You do have reason to not use the exp share, which is why they gave you the option to not use it for the first few games. If there is no reason to not use it, than why provide the option?
Additionally, the pokemon center does come with a sacrifice: time. Players are often faced with the option of backtracking to go to a pokemon center and wasting time, or pushing forward.
