This. In Japanese, it's literally called the 怪獣 egg group.
It's reserved for ambiguous monsters, whereas the other egg groups are monsters that are more easily categorized, like fish, other sea creatures, birds, and lizards.

Ampharos is an ambiguous kaiju.
The line is in both the Field and Monster egg groups because it starts as a normal magical sheep, and then becomes a something else.
