Less legendaries than Unova for one, representing every Gen (except 2) - Six starter lines which isn't bad considering this is a spin-off series that also had to prioritise repping Gen 5 as much as possible. Same amount as Kalos.

Good balance of fan favorites and obscure Pokémon like Chimecho and Carnivine.

Also the Dexit situation has caused an entire wave of normies and retards showing up ranting as if Pokémon always had every Pokémon available in every game that was purchasable prior to Gen 8, which is ironic because Sword and Shield is going to have the highest amount of obtainable Pokémon within a single Pokémon game before we even reach the second expansion.

False. The majority of previous games had less obtainable Pokémon than Sword and Shield.

I believe the only exception was X/Y, and barely. Including "third version" content, USUM does too, but by equal comparison and including the DLC for Gen 8, it wont even be comparable, with a Regional Dex of over 600 planned by the final expansion.

you have to trade a lot of gen 8 mons in anyway since we're still using the retarded Version Differences system and they don't let you catch the other starters or box legends etc

there are tons of pokémon in gen 8 that you can't catch in the wild, either because they're given to you in a cutscene or because you have to trade for them

Because having literally twice the obtainable Pokemon of most previous games in post-expansions SWSH alone is somehow "less content" for "the price of previous games"

But the real nail in the coffin in your arguement is the fact that the Pokémon added in the expansions are free in updates. No additional cost for the expanded regional dex or compatibility.

I don't even know where to begin with you saying shit like "hurr gifts and trades" as if that hasn't been a thing since Gen 1. Removing trade-required Pokémon still leaves SWSH with a higher count of obtainable Pokémon than the majority of the franchise.

Objectively? No, you realistically can't, since the Gen 7 GTS 99% of the time for the non-native-dex pokemons was also asking for non-native-dex monsters. A kid that just got their first Pokemon game would not be able to get and engage with all of that content. "But it's in the code" means jackshit. In Ruby all Pokemons are in the code but I never got all of them for the mere fact that nobody in class had FRLG or the Gamecube games to trade, meaning the content effectively did not exist to me and had no effect on my experience.

cutting pokémon doesn't affect new players much unless they go online. all the shillmons are still present and they don't have attachment to old pokémon.
but if you do actually like a certain pokémon from the previous games, you've been able to obtain them in literally every mainline pokémon game ever except sword and shield.

also you have to remember that kids are excellent at e-begging for trades. they can get whatever they want after a few hours on a discord
