Despite what you imagine, they're still going to keep the games accessible for children and vowed to never do single pokémon paid DLC (I believe the point they made was if they were selling you a digital item, they would have to feel it was worth the selling price and they just don't see a single pokémon paid DLC as being worth the price it would be sold at).
GO can do what it likes, you need to be a teen to even be playing it by yourself and as it's mainly towards adults with its pay-to-win system, doesn't really have anything to do with how Game Freak make their games, especially when Game Freak still make Pokémon for children primarily.
