I've always been surprised at how poor the music has always been in Pokemon, especially in later generations. Even for the early gens the limitations of the GB hardware gave the games a pass. You would think with the franchise's profits they could splurge a bit and get a Yasunori Mitsuda/Nobuo Uematsu equivalent to really immerse people into the games.

I still don't understand how Pokemon themes have such short loops. In the overworld it sorta makes sense to have short, memorable themes so that the flow isn't broken every time you get interrupted by an item jingle or battle but battle themes have no excuse to be at most 1m 30s long - especially considering how long a single battle can take. One whole turn can last the entirety of a loop in some cases.

Pokemon music is actualy great but in game you do nt have much time to apreciate it.
I thought S/M has weak soundtrack but then I just started to listen it and its really catchy and well themed. Especialy Tapus song
