It's even worse in the anime, since, say, Go had his Scorbunny, they were basically best friends, great partners, then POOF, Raboot, now it's sulking everywhere and ignoring Go because that's what Raboots do.
It also comes with the side effect of making people's dumb OCs even worse. If your Cinderace is anything but a sporty lanklet who likes soccer, then it's just incorrect and stupid. If you have an Inteleon who's anything but a sneaky spy or a sniper, then it's plain wrong.
