the human character animations are way more expressive this time though (although its mainly their battle animations and not the overworld)
they're the only good part of the games in the visuals department

this. I didn't like Hau but fuck Hop is horrible. Manages to lose every fucking battle and has to rebattle the gyms after you win but acts like he's hot shit because his brother's Leon. Constantly gets his shit pushed in by Bede. Loses to a fucking GRUNT at the climax but then miraculously makes it to the finals of the Champion's Cup. Ends up deciding to just become a Professor's assistant instead but we've already had that character arc in previous rivals. And then Zacian/Zamazenta take pity on him and join his party after he inexplicably loses to Sordward/Shielbert. I don't understand how he manages to lose to every named and unnamed NPC and why writers thought that makes a good rival.
