They're popular Pokemon, but they haven't had a crazy presence in the anime. Morty and Agatha had a Gengar, and it's used a big in the OS as a background Pokemon, and Dragonite was owned my Lance, Iris, and the Orange Island guy, 2 of those were one off battles too.
