Modern Pokemon designs are clearly being made with gimmicks that are meant to be meme fodder and talked about with other people nowadays, but how well will you think these designs will age? Examples include:

They will age perfectly fine in the same way nobody that realized Wobbufett was a japanese comedia reference ever had a problem with him being a reference. To a kid that doesn't know what Exxegutor is playing at he is just a "tall variant of the guy who is a coconut tree, and i know that in real life taller coconut tree species than others exist!" and so on.

Exeggutor is genuinely good, regardless of meme potential.
Sirfetched is fine.
Wooloo is memed but I don't think there's anything memey about the design.
The fossils will age better if we get the parts to fix them.
The rest will age poorly, especially giga meowth. But gigantamax forms probably aren't long for this world anyway.

They're made with more gimmicks because hardware has advanced enough to be able to make these gimmicks work + the more Pokemon there are, the more stuff the new ones need to stand out from the crowd + said gimmicks also lend themselves well to animation. Pokemon aren't just static images, they're anime characters and toys too.

The anime is the franchise's main priority because it sells merchandise, which is the franchise makes the majority of it's money. Only the anime and merchandise matter nowdays, everything else is secondary.

Gigantamax, Megas, and all those other powered-up temporary battle forms are going to age terribly because they won't re-appear in any anywhere outside of a remake. Regional variants are going to age fine and have the added benefit of reminding players of the region they came from. Eiscue will stand out as long as there isn't a pokemon with a similar gimmick as it.

I don't think the issue is "aging well". It's staying relevant to the franchise.

This is a major issue with starters minus Kanto's. Once you go into the next generation, the starters basically never appear again unless there's a remake. Regional forms have this issue too since you have to trade them in most of the time, same with legendaries that are usually tied to their region. Mythicals basically become irrelevant except for competitive immedately after they're obtainable. These sorts of Pokemon are so heavily tied into their regions that it's hard for them to come back.

"Ordinary" Pokemon like Eiscue don't have this problem, since they can just be brought back in later games without it being jarring.

From the beginning, pokemon have been based on tropes. Every pokemon is “the X pokemon”, so it’s not a surprise to see more memey designs in a more memey era. I am a bit tired of the “lol long” pokemon, but I don’t mind it really.

Wobbuffet and Wynaut are based off of a Japanese comedian and phone emoticons that were popular in the late 90s/early 2000s.

Wooper is also based off of emoticons, as well as a bried late 90s fad where a bunch of Japanese teens bought baby salamanders.
