>>43260409The gen 8 metagame in general is way slower than in gen 7 which makes Zeraora's speed way more valuable especially since it also outspeeds Dragapult. There aren't a lot of good scarfers in gen 8 so a lot of bulkier teams straight up opt to not even run a scarf and rely on Dragapult or Zeraora itself as primary speed control.
Some of its most problematic matchups like Landorus-T, Gliscor, Garchomp, Sableye-Mega, Zapdos etc. aren't in gen 8 anymore (some of them are coming back with the DLC though). Yeah, Hippowdon is still a thing so it's not like there no answers whatsoever anymore but still.
It also got Play Rough in gen 8 so some of its formerly rough matchups like Kommo-o aren't quite as bad anymore.
Gen 8 has way more wish-passing which also patches up one of its other big problems, it gets worn down by everything and has no recovery aside from potentially Leftovers.
Another big thing that is easy to overlook is that gen 8 is starving for good electric types. Other than Rotom most other electric types are pretty underwhelming or were suffering under Dugtrio up until recently. Gen 7 had Koko, Zapdos, Magnezone, Thundurus and so on.
