There are several towns in SwSh that are so incredibly barren of anything other than a gym battle and pokemon center, how can anyone defend these games?

It's not necessarily that more houses = good game, it's that it's indicative of effort being put into the game. And looking at Swoosh, it's clear that the effort wasn't simply put elsewhere.

It isn't about having empty houses, it's about feeling like an actual town with people and not a literal hallway that exists only as a gym "challenge"

SwSh by far has the least amount of routes and towns in any pokemon game and fails to make half of the towns feel like lived-in places, which is especially stupid seeing as gyms are supposed to be the highlight of the region's economy, and yet there are towns with nothing but a gym and maybe two houses. It's unfathomable laziness

Pretty much like I can only count like four towns and cities in the entire fucking game that actually feels remotely close to a lively town and one of them aka Hammerloke is structured to be a giant straight line. This just sucks considering that many of these locations had very interesting aesthetic feel where if they designed by competent developers like monolithsoft for example, these locations (especially Ballonlea) could of been some of the most unique areas in the entire franchises history but of course that never happened and these locations got fucked over because of gamefreaks shitty world design.
