Base stats have nothing to do with canon abilities. Compare what the Pokedex has to say about Rapidash and Pidgeot's top speeds, then compare their actual Speed stats. You can try to handwave it as some bullshit like reaction time or something but at the end of the day it's a number pulled out of a hat and slapped on with other numbers until some Japanese developer decided it looked okay.

This would make sense if it was Oshawott being sad over Samurott. In Sobble’s case it evolving actually made it more beloved, can’t say the same for some other starters, especially Oshawott.

I like the Inteleon we got, but the fact that every Water starter since Swampert has primarily been a Special Attacker kinda bothers me. I just wish Inteleon had been a physically-oriented Zorro-like fencer instead of water Alakazam.
