Despite the ratings being lower, neither XY nor SM changed course. They went exactly as planned from beginning to end.

The real issue is that TV ratings don't mean shit anymore in the age of the internet. What they really care about is merchandise and DVD sales.

Dragonite is the most confusing mon in my opinion. Dragonite’s are pseudo-legendaries, if there was an anime-only Pokemon tier list they’d be in the highest bracket automatically
Why does Ash need one when he already has Plotkachu, an inevitable Lucario and a fucking Gengar?

Kukui's made them go to Kanto to study about the regional forms because all of them were Kantomons.

20th anniversary or not, the amount of Kanto shoved in Gen7 games made it inevitable for the anime to do Kanto episodes.

Lucario, yes. But Ash’s Gengar is demonstrably different both in personality and in appearance from all other Gengar seen thus far, and almost every Dragonite in the anime have their own personality — Iris’s was a belligerent rage machine, Ash’s is relatively timid, Lance’s is loyal, obedient and devastatingly powerful. Will be interesting to see how Ash’s develops over the series, if they actually spend time fleshing him out.

Nobody questions that Raticate belonged to Ash. After all, it was acquired in much the same way that Buizel was: trade. Except that one was permanent and lasted more than a few minutes.

A website from before XY started listed Mr. Mime as one of Ash's Pokemon. This was before this Pokemon was shilled in Detective Pikachu. It was implied from at least that point onward that Mr. Mime belonged to Ash, and that Ash catching it was the main reason why it obeyed Delia (despite its mischievous personality beforehand).

Idk man I grew up with Frontier. When I was a teenager I binge watched Digimon Adventures, 02, Tamers and Frontier again. Even through the nostalgia from Frontier I found Tamers the most enjoyable of the four.

There was not one implication in the anime that it belonged to Ash in the entire run no matter what some Twitter post said. Hell even when it comes to this series, it only stayed at the lab on Delia’s command, not Ash’s. The fact that anyone on the staff could get away with trying to say it belongs to Ash when there is nothing in the anime that backs that up really shows that there are either no editors on this show or that they aren’t doing their jobs

Leon's owned Charizard since he was a wee fella and used it to become the Galarian undefeated trainer and world number one. Ash isn't pulling out his, when they already gave him a Dynamax band and showed him and Pika pulling a Gmax off, despite a trainer usually needing to return their pokémon to the ball to infuse it with dynamax energy. All there in the manual kiddies.

It was implied that Ash caught Mr. Mime for Delia, much like how Clemont caught Dedenne for Bonnie. Ash caught Pokemon off-screen before. In any case, Mr. Mime is Ash's Pokemon, and that BW-era website that shows Mr. Mime with everything else Ash caught is proof. Assuming that Mr. Mime was Delia's all this time when she was never shown being a trainer or having a proper trainer license is even more asinine than assuming Ash could not have caught Mr. Mime at all.

You can see Go and Raboot training their Ember attack in the rain in the preview. Their bond is going to get stronger over the course of the episode, and Raboot will finally listen to Go again. Their relationship issues have to do with Go, not with Raboot. Go has to understand where he is in the wrong to get Raboot to listen to him again. He will do that in the episode.

The evidence exists now. You have at least four different official sources - a website from the BW era, the anime special from after SM ended that showed off Ash's team, the tweet from SS007, and the Ga Ole disc - that show Mr. Mime as belonging to Ash. The BW-era website was the biggest clue here, as this had nothing to do with Detective Pikachu or the new series, implying that Mr. Mime was not retconned to be Ash's at the last minute. In the original series, Ash caught Squirtle off-screen as well, and we didn't see its ball until a few episodes later. The same could be said for Mr. Mime, where we got its ball.

People overlook the fact that Raboot chose Go. Raboot isn't going to leave Go so easily, especially after how many sacrifices and physical toil it went through just to be with Go. With Buizel, it was caught by Dawn but it didn't choose to be Dawn. Ash and Zoey were also eager to catch the Buizel. Buizel just obeyed Dawn because she was the one who caught him.
