Fun fact:
Greninja's blue coloration is not from being a water type, but is more on the lines of ninjas irl wearing blue more than black.

Actually, ninjas mostly just dressed like normal people. On the occasion that hiding in plain sight wasn't enough, they'd dress in dark blue because it blends into the night sky better than black.
The idea of ninjas wearing black comes from the fact that in kabuki theater, stagehands dressed in all black, so theatergoers were conditioned to just ignore them. The idea of the ninja in all black came from a play where the twist was that a stagehand was a ninja assassin.
