Some notes:
- These emails seem to be from the period of time after the release of Blue in Japan but before the release of the versions we saw in the West. They make numerous references to bug fixes for overseas releases.
- Gold and Silver were also mentioned in these emails! At this point, it seems that they were actively in production and it may be the case that they were still using a code base that was largely similar to that of RBGY at this point. It appears that they were being prepared for production around the same time as Yellow, as Gold and Silver suffered from the same corruption bug as the as-of-then unreleased Yellow.
-These emails appear largely authentic - there are a handful of errors and strange typos in the bug reports that would be pointless to fake, and many bugs are arbitrary, random and not of any particular note.
-That said, there are numerous bugs that reflect popular and known bugs from the released versions.

Probably incidental, but since we were talking about the identity of the cover Pokemon for Pink Version, I found it interesting that Jigglypuff got a detailed menu sprite for GSC and Clefairy kept the same generic "Gen I fairy" sprite. I wonder if this could have originated as a sprite for following Jigglypuff?

It is entirely possible that Jiggs was intended as the second starter since by this time Jigglypuff had surpassed Clefairy in popularity and was prominently featured in the anime.

The owner of that MEGA folder really should add the original leaked ZIP instead of the extracted contents, you lose stuff like dates/checksums otherwise, someone in the last thread even said some files in that MEGA might be FUBAR'd which wouldn't have happened if they'd just posted the original there.

https://archive.org/details/pokemonblueandyellowsourcecode has a mostly original version, has correct timestamps/checksums but isn't passworded like the original osrc.zip leak.

Yeah I realized after I posted the comment I mixed up my timelines - the files refer to Yellow and GS being developed/sent to the plant in Uji simultaneously, which makes sense with the timelines of their release.

He's not actually assembling any of the files (the process takes around 10 mins) so if you made any modifications to the source they wouldn't carry over to the compiler rom. Don't really see the point but whatever floats your boat i guess

Banned now but I'm sure he was staff there once, just look at that user ID.

Also was involved with finally hacking the iQue Player around the time he got access to Nintendo, the iQue SDK & encryption keys also leaked not long after that.
I'm just hoping he managed to pass along the iQue private key to someone before he got nicked.

It's 3KB short because it doesn't pad out the ROM with empty dummy data afterwards, if you add in null bytes to reach 1024KB, you'll have a duplicate of one of the ROMs.

I think it was mostly some pret guys that started "Team Spaceworld", they hoarded it so they could dig into it before anyone else had a chance, then decided "hey lets work on a whole fucking translation before we share anything!", luckily like you said some based madlad stepped up and we didn't have to wait years for those fags to get a translation done.

TCRF was only involved because TSW were gonna share their findings there, if someone makes an offer to TCRF admin "hey we'll let you host info about a prototype + leak it if you keep it secret till we're done" the admin there would be stupid to refuse.

I could be wrong about some of the details here though, this is just going off what I remember, but I'm pretty sure the TCRF guys weren't a big part of TSW or their decisions.

I'm sure most of us would rather it leaked rather than waiting for a translation.

Most of the unused text mentioned on https://tcrf.net/Pokémon_Red_and_Blue/Unused_Text is in this code, some of it has some references that were commented out but not all, eg. looks like there was code that would use the "Switch on!" text when you used the endgame PC, can you believe it?

Here's some cut code from the battle script, act_chief is for the Silph Chief battle while act_okido might be the Prof Oak battle. No idea what this actually does, maybe someone should try restoring it to pret.

The mssccprj.scc file is from VSS btw, basically MS's ancient version of git. Knowing wack0 I'd hope he would have dumped the whole database so he'd have every single change made to it, but then again they might not have been using VSS very long.

Perhaps he did and the current leaker is either holding out or doesn't have everything. Considering that there are multiple empty folders in the leak, I would like to believe that this is the case. Also note that the folder for Gen 5 has a file called "empty for now.txt". Keyword now.

The OP link isn't the actual leaker, just some hopeful guy putting everything together, AFAIK there hasn't been any word on Gen 5 stuff.
For Gen 2 at least there was the CRYSTAL_BY_NUM.SYM file leak, which shows that someone had access to Crystal dev data, who knows if anyone is based enough to leak that though.

3. delete all files in source\Iso
4. make a command prompt in the "yellow" folder

I wouldn't presume that. It was around the time the GBE+ author was starting to research all sorts of obscure add-ons for the game boy and gba. That author actually put together a research blog, and anything you'd expect to be Nintendo server-side is all guesswork or made up to just return the right commands.
Only thing really restored is some minor mailing systems, unlocking locations and events exclusive to the GB mobile already in the game's code, and Game Boy Wars 3 bonus maps from donated complete saves.

forgot to mention that the output rom will be named "yellmons.isx" and be in the "source\isx" directory. delete the "yellmons.gb" file that's there and run the "conv.bat" program to turn the isx rom into a gameboy rom

also i looked into what version of make i'm using since some people here are having problems, what you've gotta do is install the "msys" package off the mingw installer (http://www.mingw.org/) and not msys2. then you have to run "make" from the windows command prompt, not any sort of linux shell.

Damn, tried finding the SDK version he used for that but looks like all the links are dead...

But luckily I remembered I had this IS-SUPPORT leak from years ago, oh shit.
Looks like the SDKs inside are locked though, EXE won't run properly, readme says "Unpacking is not possible unless the IS-CGB-EMULATOR is connected."...

Tried patching it quickly but it needs some key from the IS-CGB-EMULATOR hardware, damn.
Maybe if I can find an already decrypted version of the sdk (same as sdk filename without the cgb_ part) I can figure it out from there, doesn't look like that can be found anywhere neither though :(

It just had a junk palette because I had the tile viewer tool using its shitty default palette. That logo is in TITLCAP2.DAT, btw. The early pocket monsters title is in PMTIT.DAT.

IIRC the "protection" there is lame, it literally just checks if the hardware is there then decrypts using a key thats in the exe

Yeah you'll get newer stuff out of those, the assembler/linker you need to make unmodified builds are called "DMG Relocatable Macro Assembler Version 1.21f" and "ISASM Linker Version 1.20e", you can't find either of those anywhere. The modifications aren't even major, it's just underscores added to the front of local labels.

Nice find, it's the same filename at least, but a lot smaller than my copy, maybe because this is 7z instead of rar.
In mine there's a bunch of folders like "IS-SUPPORT\agb\emu" that are just empty, might be the same here too.
I'm pretty when this leaked (on assembler?) there were some extra files besides the IS-SUPPORT leaked too, but I can't find them on my comp now.

Damn, you know if the older cgb_sdk980929.exe was checked too? I noticed that doesn't extract after decoding, seems to use some DOS SFX app, gonna grab dosbox now and see..
There's no strings for ISDMG at least while ISAS/ISLK are there, but there is mention of an ISASLK, wonder what that is.

Aw, got excited because the special USB emulator mentioned an ISvDMG.exe included with it, turns out that's just the original filename for the CGB-EMULATOR exe though, all the older versions would just have it renamed to cgbe.exe but guess they forgot for the 3-years-newer USB release, damn.
