you must be new. Source code of Blue and Yellow dropped 2 days ago now and we were able to find the beta back sprites inside the data. So those backsprites are real, it is confirmed now. But HC are still fags because they kept hoarding beta material and made a fake rom hack back in the day.

They never reveal a design they feel can be salvaged for another game/region. If they show off a design as an old beta design, it's one they've outright scrapped and will never be considered for the world in future. Gorochu and everything they officially revealed as being potential entrants at one time or another are dead, they will not and can not be adjusted to fit what they want, as they see it.

It also didn't get shown off as an old beta. Given they admit tweaking designs/holding them back to potentially use them in other games going forward, old Gen I prototype has an elephant design and Gen II suddenly introducing an elephantine pokémon, it's pretty fucking obvious that got held back till they could make it look like a pokémon in their estimation.

Yes, that's generally how the process for turning a potential desgin into a pokémon goes, the designers change it till it fits in the world. "Muh indian's elephant" didn't fit, so they changed it until it did.

Nah, it looks similar to other basic animal mons like Kangaskhan, so it's safe to assume that is was probably normal. Ground is a maybe just because it possibly could have been reimagined into Donphan next Gen, so maybe they always wanted a ground elephant. The design looks too basic to be anything fancy imo.

Yeah its super weird. It'd play hugely into the nostalgia of the generation who grew up with 1st and 2nd gen, they'd make a lot of money if they released the content of this book. Hell, they could even make merch of it. People would buy kotora plushies.
