Obviously not from the literal start since Sage originated as a CAP project and nobody even knew it'd turn into an actual game, but by like 2014/2015 the internal consensus was that after 2.0 all future demos would be strictly internal.
Maybe that's changed since then, IDK, but the lack of public demos isn't at all indicative of some catastrophic failure.

Honestly to an admittedly unreasonable degree: Pretty much any time they chimed in on anything a few other devs would give them shit for what they said however long ago it was.
At the time, I was in off topic but no longer a developer, I thought it was unfair and basically had devolved into bullying, but my attempts to try to curtail it never really worked. The idea of not allowing personal insults was floated but never went anywhere since obviously we were still mostly 4chan users and the idea of not being able to call each other fucking stupoid and such wasn't really appealing.
But, as far as I am aware, this NEVER went into actual development chats. Him getting kicked from the plotchat had to do with him telling people incorrect information as far as how much was done with X or Y thing and he had been warned about it in the past. When he got removed from plotchat as a result, he then flipped out and accused others of giving him shit for said off topic-chat spats and insulted a bunch of people while in development chats, disrupting actual work, and then got kicked entirely.
