If you desperately need to curse your opponent but don't want to cut a ghost mon's HP in half, then sure.
Seems really niche, but hey, as long as it works. I doubt anybody has tried it yet, so you'll probably have to test it yourself.

I once skill swapped a protean onto a curse piloswine. It was amazing seeing it cut its own HP just to curse itself
