Also, if NuzGenDev is here, I noticed a bug. I've submitted it through the reporter, but will also double it here.
It seems the Shellos/Gastrodon line is currently broken. The picture download just gives an error and also errors out the download option if you have it on your picture

Ace was defeated by a crit petal dance/poisonpowder combo from the rival's meganium. that one hurt.
radio tower was a breeze up until archer's houndoom, whose low damage roll on its first faint attack made me confident beverly could take another one. she could not. rip in pieces.
now i gotta find two more party members AND level up before clair, who always seems to take one or two away from me

a google search thru some forums revealed you can boot the game up, start a new game, and then soft reset after your character shrinks at the end of the intro. from there just select your actual save file, loads up as if nothing was different.

Just got to Victory Road. Encountered a Durant, which is just as well because I'm already using ONE late-evolution meme in this run; I don't need a second. Volcarona is emergency backup now because I'm not such a bitch as to sweep the game with a level 60.
I lost Gothitelle to the last trainer on Route 10, which blows. Tornadus is mostly here for the meme but basically having an empty champ slot is nice.

Lucario was the scariest of Cynthia's team for sure. In Diamond I just earthquaked it away but Noah my Gastrodon was getting beat too hard and I was scared it would fall. So I bring in Lady Jessica and her punches. It was an intense fight but I lived a dragon pulse by the skin of my teeth and used my last Drain Punch to bring it down.

Her Milotic was an issue too since I had no electric moves and took grass knot off my Empoleon shortly after I first got it. It just didn't make sense to me why a steel penguin could use grass. I tried using toxic stall to bring it down but you know how Full Restores go. So I bring in Cher. The reason I pulled the Purugly out of my box in the first place was cause I had lost an IRL cat recently and so named it after her. Got pretty attached to her and her Body Slams paralyzed and brought down the bulky water type through sheer force. So proud of her.

So of course, Garchomp ended up being the last mon standing for Cynthia. Now I kinda fucked up here in a couple ways and thought I was screwed.
1. I had planned to just bring in Wilhelm the Empoleon and Ice Beam it. But then I remembered that Garchomp was going to have Earthquake and get fucked cause of the steel typing.

I managed to live through an attack as she sang the Perish Song. Protect bought me another turn. Then I switches to Cher cause I knew she could tank anything besides brick break and it wouldn't use that against a ghost. Finally, I switched to Wilhelm to tank a Gina Impact and with that the Perish count hit 0 and I became champion! Fucking awesome.

Been a heck of a journey so far that I started in 2016. I might at least boot up Platinum and at least get through the intro stuff before bed. I never played gen 4 before these nuzlockes but it is my understanding that as long as I keep Inferape alive, the run shouldn't be too difficult. I also have still not used a Starraptor. Besides that though, I am not too sure what I will be able to depend on for coverage besides that that I have not already used. But figuring those things out is part of the fun.

Does anyone know if anyone here has ever completed the nuzlocke of every main series game? I remember seeing posts of someone who had made it up to X/Y but that was probably over a year ago.

One more gym down with Rat Bink putting the power plays on most of Erika's team. He three-shot her Victreebel while it missed twice with Stun Spore. And then he took down Tangela while it tried to stall out with Ingrain and Giga Drain.
I had to switch him out after Vileplume paralyzed him and Giga Drained him into the red. Swapped in the newest member, Screkit the Doduo and finished the battle with Fly.

Olivia's Grand Trial is complete. Actually quite an easy fight since Stamina gave Persimmon a defense boost every time she got hit, and High Horsepower is pretty broken at this stage in the game. Also, shiny Gigalith is beautiful.

Right after posting about how good things were going, shit hit the fan. Scorch died to a critical hit, and each replacement I tried died to a critical hit. After beating Surge in the world's easiest 1v1, I caught a Rattata, which seemed to be a glimmer of hope until it died to Selfdestruct. When I got to Celadon, I got a Flareon because I thought it would help in my gym but my dumb ass forgot that it doesn't learn Fire moves in this game until way later. Fortunately its raw Attack power was enough to beat Erika.

after losing my flyer and surfer, had to fill those slots. shellder was a guarantee encounter because of my retired tentacool line. trained to 49 to learn ice beam and then grinded out points at the pokeathlon for a water stone to evolve. clement is ready to rip.
my only options for a flyer pre-kanto were skarmory and lugia. i generally try to avoid using legendaries, so i hoped for the best in getting skarmory (5% encounter rate) over teddiursa (10%) with the geodude line retired. got lucky and caught maverick, who im excited to use.
clair was surprisingly uneventful. grim and jupiter did most of the heavy lifting.
this is the team going into the elite four. im nervous about my movepool's lack of coverage, but im gonna ride whats brought the team success.

Also beat Jupiter... barely. Krios got some paralysis luck on the lead Golbat and was able to stay in to get a t-wave off on the Skuntank..

Bubilas learned X-Scissor, which helped. Also Proteus learned Extrasensory, Power Gem, and Grass Knot, Helios learned Flamethrower, things are going well for now..

with the level gap a little closer things got tough. i was worried about kiki not being strong enough to beat umbreon without serious damage, but a crit return boded well. karen switched to gengar but i predicted a focus blast by switching to grim. one shadow ball took care of gengar and a sludge bomb finished off umbreon with houndoom up versus clement
then things got scary. houndoom got a nasty plot off, and clement's surf knocked it down to low low health. i thought clement could tank one hit, but i was wrong. dark pulse knocked him down. rip buddy.
nervous about the speed advantage/stat boost, i subbed in hank. he was able to barely tank a dark pulse but got the job done. murkrow and vileplume were pushovers but the loss of clement made the victory bittersweet.

grim took down gyarados with a thunder, jupiter beat charizard, and maverick got the surprise one-shot on aerodactyl with a steel wing. then the level 50 dragonite came out. without clement, i resorted to hank hoping the speed disadvantage would mean more damage from avalanche. a safeguard meant avalanche didn't do enough the first time, but after absorbing one outrage it did enough the second time around. i needed to heal hank so he could take down the remaining two dragonite, and hope grim could tank a hit while i healed. alas, blizzard was too much for him, and he was beat. that one fucking hurt, grim had been with the team before we had a badge. rip dawg ;__;7. hank got the revenge kills and we took down the elite four, but not without major damage done to the team.
rip clement and grim. true heroes.
on to kanto, gotta figure out a new surfer and the other remaining slot.

anyone here try and nuzlocke omega fire red? just wiped to the rival fight at silph co, this is my 3rd playthrough and i'm just gonna play through the game normally from here, the enjoyment I got from the game became less and less as I kept being forced to grind to at least 10 levels above the zone i'm in because this game has a fetish for sleep+confusion.

I don't play Yellow often enough, I keep forgetting how ridiculous the level spike is mid-game. I'm keeping a smaller team to focus more on them, because frankly I don't have much patience to grind. I beat Koga with X Accuracy and Fire Spin, which allowed me to get Special Bro. I wanted to abuse Amnesia at least once in Gen 1. After getting Amnesia, the rival and Giovanni went down easy. Sabrina also was less bad than I expected, since Ginger one-shot two of her Pokemon with Body Slam.
On a different note, I play on a Game Boy Advance SP, so (if I recall correctly) I can't trade to evolve Pokemon on Game Boy games.

Sophocles' trial is done, probably the easiest totem fight in the game. Durian was able to one-shot Vikavolt and its ally Charjabug with a Continental Crush and a Rock Tomb, respectively. I'm pretty happy with my current team and I'm very excited to use Alolan Grimer, hopefully it will live long enough to evolve.

after a lot of deliberation, i decided to add larissa the slowpoke and anderson the tyrogue to the team. i like slowbro enough to get over the fact that i just used slowking in my last run, and the thought of an iron fist hitmonchan with elemental punches for type coverage was enticing (and as much as i like hitmontop, it's movepool is ass).
hank took down surge with little effort and erika was no match for maverick's defenses and jupiter's asswhoopery. then i got bored and decided to beat every trainer in kanto before claiming any more gym badges, which was enough to evolve the newcomers and get them up to speed. now it's just a matter of beating the remaining gyms and then grinding/planning for red.

I remembered N's Sigilyph being a pain in the ass in Black, and it was still a pain in the ass to deal with.

Maroon who I picked up on Route 4 was going to be the key member to beat Elesa, but he was downed rather quick with a Air Cutter crit. Instead Red came in and beat down Elesa's team. I like the Sandile line and am sad to see Maroon go.

And with that the Generation 1 leg of this marathon ends! I'm excited to get into a new gen, but I'm afraid that I'm going to get really fatigued in. Special Bro pretty much wrecked house (as can be seen in the level difference; everyone was the same level when I entered). The only Pokemon I didn't use Special Bro against were Lance's Gyarados (sacrificed Elizabeth to get a Thunderbolt off) and the Blue's Jolteon (used Rockafella).
This run was nice in that there was a consistent team with each member being useful for a certain part of the game. Elizabeth and Rockafella carried the early game, Ginger carried the midgame, and Special Bro DESTROYED the late game.
On an unrelated note I kinda didn't wish the game didn't introduce artificial difficulty by putting ridiculous level spikes on the Gym Leaders. It wasn't very interesting to strategize around, and its not like they made grinding any easier compared to Red and Blue. For me it just incentivized having a small team that broke the game mechanics just to get through at a reasonable pace.
Next up is Gold and I know which rule I'm adding, but I'm always open to suggestions because I have a running list. Probably will emulate because my copy's save battery is fucked. Shouldn't change much because I couldn't trade with my hardware anyway.

Beat Hapu to a pulp. Her Flygon had me on the ropes for a bit, Rarotonga and Maewo had 9 and 7hp left respectively, luckily Nunivak sat on it.
According to the generator Dragonium Z would be first, so I was surpised that Hapu wanted to battle first, but Grass Knot crippled her team pretty fucking hard.

Got a few generic night Pokemon and an unbelievable Jigglypuff encounter. Training that thing was a bitch because it doesn't learn an attack until level 9, but it was worth it because putting the Pidgeotto to sleep, switching to Hickory to spam Growl, and then to Del Fuego to spam Smokescreen was a winning strategy. Remind me not to play at night again in the early game though, every other encounter is a Rattata.

Guess who nearly got wiped by a Battle Girl at the bottom of Wellspring Cave? I was looking around for new Pokemon and items to prepare for the Iccirus Gym because I lost some uys in Twist Mountain (including my Zebstrika, who I'd raised from 9 to 37).
I knew I shouldn't have fucking fought her. Got too cocky and paid a huge price. Only made it through because Nagatoro sacrificed herself to inflict Torment on her Gurdurr, which let me wear him down with Iron Barbs before Brick finished him. Brick whittled down Sawk with battle items before dying. Esdeath came in and finished him with Brine.

In this episode of gyms I'm totally unprepared for, we have Goldenrod City's Normal Gym, lead by the one and only Whitney! I was worried because I had no direct counters and my encounters around the city were shit (one Rattata that nearly immediately died, an Abra which fled, and a Kakuna with which I did not bother). Somehow, through pure bullshit luck, Portobello survived a Rock Slide from Clefairy, a Stomp from Miltank, and one-shot said Miltank with Fury Cutter.

Whew. A lot happened between the last gym and this one.
So I caught a Sudowoodo, but it took out my Jigglypuff. Somehow it hit a Rock Throw with -4 accuracy.
I caught a few more, even though like half of my encounters were still Rattata. In addition to Jacques, I got Patty the Krabby and Eclipse the Eevee.
While grinding for Morty, I found a Shiny. Fortunately, I just implemented the Shiny clause. Unfortunately, it's a Spinarak. If anyone knows how to use Ariados, please tell me.
Fighting Morty was annoying. He always was for me, especially as a (younger) kid (zoom zoom). Portobello was typically fast enough (with or without Quick Claw) to take out his Pokemon in one hit with Dig, but Gengar hit just about every Hypnosis. I could only healspam and wait. Upon waking up, I got my own revenge by hitting Gengar with Spore, killing it with two Digs.

It's a romhack of Emerald which ups trainer difficulty, adds all Pokemon, moves, types, and abilities up to Gen 6 (including Mega evolutions), and makes it so all trade evolutions evolve differently.

After a bunch of grinding against Swadloons, I finally managed to sort of rebuild. Tatsumi destroyed Brycen, and now we're heading up Dragonspiral Tower. I honestly can't remember what's waiting for me up there, since I finished Black a really long time ago. This is the farthest I've ever made it on a Black nuzlocke.
I really want this to be the run because I want to move on to BW2, since I've actually never played those games for whatever reason.

Got the seventh badge. I like when the games leave the player to a more open world. Chuck was first. I tried taking out Ariados from the box so it could spam Night Shade while taking 4x resistances, but I didn't anticipate the gym trainers having Rock Slide. Since I had no hard counter, I chose to train Patty, due to her high physical defense. Through strategy, I pulled out a win Just fucking kidding, I used Guillotine lmao. Afterwards, I went to Mahogany to clear out the Rocket Hideout and beat Pryce. I was careless against the gym trainers and let Jacques die to an Ice Punch. After this loss, I re-evaulated my strategy, again choosing Patty due to her resistances (actually it was Guillotine again). Then I went to Jasmine and that wasn't bad. I started training up Rivers Cuomo as well.

Parasect is amazing, easily a contender for MVP. Spore is good and reliable allowing Fury Cutter to build nicely or just to hack away with Slash or Dig. It's a bit slow but it's a bit bulkier than I expected. Weezing is pretty good, but I know its moveset can be better coverage-wise, I just need to wait for later. Electrode normally is good, but its only electric moves this game are Thunder and Zap Cannon. I haven't used it enough for support yet but I can tell right now that its not going to reach its full potential because of the TM set. It needs an electric attack, and I'd also recommend Explosion if you're not doing a Nuzlocke. Otherwise, I love using it.

Yellow died to a crit Shadow Ball from Shauntal's Cofagrigus.

Red and Green made short work of Grimsley.

Green took care of most of Caitlin's pokemon, with Orange taking out the Sigilyph.

Orange and Red took out Marshal.

Full party pretty much to finish N.

Ghetsis was Green to take out the Cofagrigrus and then heal stall with Red on the Hydreigon until it missed an attack to then Hammer Arm the way to victory.

I might start Black 2 soon, I might not. I'm not sure at the moment.

You've got to be shitting me. Four critical hits in a row on Esdeath, Murtagh, Tatsumi, and Nicole. That means 3/4 of my Black nuzlockes have been ended by rivals (Cheren twice, Bianca just now, and Skyla before).
This game is cursed. If just one of those hits hadn't been a crit, I would have beaten her Serperior because of the TMs I'd used on them. In fact, Tatsumi nearly killed it despite the endless Coil spam.

I think they're fine. Firstly, the odds of you having the right Pokemon are low. Secondly, if you think about it, you're sometimes giving up two Pokemon for one. For instance, I won't be able to accept the Egg or catch a Pokemon in the lake in Violet City.

Since I'm probably gonna be here a while, I started a White 2 Randomizer Nuzlocke. I randomized Wild Pokemon, Trainers Pokemon, Evolutions, Abilities (I think), Moves, Move Tutors, and TMs. The other 2 starter choices were Ducklett and Chikorita. Got all the badges! Blue was pretty tough but I managed. The biggest challenge was Gyarados. I let it Hyper Beam my own Gyarados so I could safely switch in Lutz. I hesitated using ThunderPunch, thinking it wouldn't one-shot, so I went for a Reflect, an action which ended up saving Lutz's life as it survived with 28 HP from full health. I then used ThunderPunch, bringing the Gyarados to very low health. Blue then exhausted all of his Full Restores while Lutz kept using ThunderPunch.

Crobat just took a bit to evolve, Kadabra cannot evolve because of my hardware. Technically I'm emulating but even if I had some way to get trade evos I want to play faithfully to how I would on my physical copies (which I cannot trade with). It's probably a pretty silly reason. This opens up a gray area in my rules though; I allow for different evolutions of champs to be used, but throughout this game I have been discounting Geodude encounters because that would be a repeat. By Gen 3, when I would be able to trade, I'm still not sure if they should count.

Nice, screens tend to be decent in nuzlockes. Always scared of crits, but that doesn't mean screens are useless. That's fair, everybody has weird rules. It seems unfair if you just can't use Golem unless you avoid Geodude completely. I would personally be okay with using trade evos in post-GBC gens but it's up to you.

Hoppip/Zubat has been hell to train, but it's getting better as they get slightly better moves. Electivire has been god-tier for me, him and Muk are probably the MVPs of the whole run. I suggest adding Flabebe to your team, Florges has unbelievable special stats and you can get a shiny stone to evolve it on the route before Coumarine City IIRC. It's really good. I would've been fucked against Lenora and hordes of Sigilyphs without it.. Maybe not E4 material but definitely a strong early-game assist. To think she went out piercing the drill with her heaven.

I never played X but Charmander is obviously good. Gulpin, Ducklett, and Flabebe are all decent if you want to get out of Kanto. Meditite's good too if it has Huge Power.

Richard's Force Palm got it down to half and paralyzed it. Unfortunately, it had Synchronize, so I had to spend a turn using a Para Heal. It was down with another Force Palm

Forgot to introduce the run. In the middle of a StormSilver run with basic rules. Eon didn't have much of a choice when evolving, but it's been really goo so far. Alphonse the modest Pupitar is waiting to be large and in charge, but takes a fight every now and then. Mr. Fish died because I forgot the Morty's Gengar has Thunderbolt the moment it mattered the most. He will be missed.

well, it's done. red was swept by a probably over-leveled team but whatev. here's how it went down

pikachu missed with it's first iron tail which allowed hank to set up stealth rock. i'm lucky it missed, because i for some reason thought ground resisted steel and didn't think hank would take much damage, but the second iron tail landed and knocked him below half health. luckily one earthquake took out pikachu

anderson took advantage of stealth rock causing lapras some entry damage. a mach punch knocked lapras below half, who responded with a blizzard that didn't do much considering hitmonchan's surprisingly high spdef. close combat finished lapras off
>charizard
tricky stones knocked charizard to half lol. larissa knocked it out with one brine
>venusaur
frenzy plant didn't do much, which allowed maverick to set up a swagger. venusaur recharged during an aerial ace, then hurt itself to allow the second aerial ace to knock it out
>blastoise
jupiter's light screen/captivate combo made blastoise's blizzards do barely anything, even in hail. a couple grass knots took it down.
>snorlax
kiki cheesed snorlax with some attract luck, allowing it to pull off a focus punch and almost knocking it out. hail did the rest.

bootleg soul silver is done. this was my first real run not using any starters, i might pick that up again for another emerald or leaf green run.

Not bad at all. Won't be using any special attacks then, but this has the makings of a sweeper.

Meanwhile on the rest of the team the egg hatched and it is a Togepi! Which was unexpected for me. So I now find myself in a bind. I also have a roselia and I think there is only 1 shiny stone. I will look into it later but this team could be pretty damn potent at this rate.

Thus far, Sandslash has been an MVP. It can handle basically everything that explodes really well both in terms of type coverage and in terms of defense, and you fight a LOT of Geodudes, Koffings, and Voltorbs in this game. So he naturally gets a BUNCH of use.

Every Pokemon (aside from legionaries, unless you allow those) is fair game if you havent got a Pokemon in that area yet. My 2 exceptions are forced "gift"/"event" mons (ie Eevee in Sacred Gold/Storm Silver, Zorua in BW2, forced eggmons in any game) or your starter.
Only forced ones though, for example you can skip getting the elemental monkey in BW1. But if you opt to get it, thats your encounter for the area.
I also like to play with a mod that makes trade evos possible in games. Pic related. I'm a little split on it though, as a lot of the trade mons like Machop, Geodude, and Gastly are usually pretty easy to get so you can have a pretty broken team in gen 1 and 2.

2 methods Ive seen are counting every part of the wild are as a new encounter, or one wild area encounter per gym badge. Or just full on count it as 1 encounter, the game is super easy and you aren't actually that short on routes.

Well Fantina is dealt with but losses were heavy. I needed to sacrifice some mons so RIP to my Beaver and my modest fossil. These 6 are literally all I have left. However, there are now some new routes open to me so hopefully I can build up some reserves or get better options. Might spend some time digging around in the underground for a shiny stone. Or just see what else I can find.
