>>43301617Honestly, you're right. Third versions weren't a lazy cash grab, they were a cynical cash grab. It's not a trivial effort to re-package an old game with $5 of DLC grade content, a quality rollup and a few minor story tweaks and pretend it's a new game still worth retail prices, but it's a shitty thing to do that only passes in Pokémon because of the logo attached to it.
No third version or "sequel" after Emerald (due to the limitations of the GB/GBA) has had a valid reason to exist. None. Everything a third version brings to the table would be a free update or $5-$10 DLC in any other game with a business plan that isn't "You'll buy it anyway."
