>>43305244Well, as far as the BW arc is concerned, it's pretty 50/50.
Black is a good character, his team as well, and has some neat development around.
One could also say Team Plasma succeeds at being detestable, but there's an issue where a lot of the bad things they do (specially N's) are easily forgiven.
Bianca and Cheren barely exist in this manga, as they were shafted in favour of White. The former left early and when White ran into her, she was developing a joy towards music, but after solving a fight with Meloetta, she suddenly decided that she wanted to be a professor, and never came back afterwards. The latter, on the other hand, appeared to help Black in Driftveil like in the games, but after that, he never re-appears until the League, where he was brainwashed off-screen by Team Plasma.
Then there's White herself, who goes through a crisis midway through the arc and took her time to develop. But as BW2 has shown, that clearly didn't pay off.
And then there's most things concerning the ending. I already mentioned the part about Cheren, but that's not all:
Earlier in the arc, half of Unova's gym leaders were kidnapped to parts unknown and Caitlyn said that they had their memories altered so no psychic could trace them. After the final battle, it's revealed that they were crucified. The scene is terrible, not so much for the edgy religious imagery as much as it does because of how idiotic it is that they spent entire days crucified when they should be dead out of starvation, and because Team Plasma could've just brainwashed them like Cheren.
After that, Black just manages to summon Reshiram and the final battles go smooth, but then comes the ending. As much as many cried (myself included), truth is, the ending is awful. Mainly because Reshiram goes back to its stone form for reasons never explained (which has remained as such as of this arc), because the scenes leading to it implied Ghetsis expected it to happen, and because of an asspulled Beheeyem.
