So I'm about to play Soul Silver for the first time and I want to strat out a solid party to get through most of the game. I like to already know when and where to catch things so I don't waste xp on like, a Furret early game (not that it matters too much, of course). I also like the challenge of having a minimal party until the party plan is all filled out.

Some notes: I have no friends (yeah, that's why) so no Pogeys with trade requirements on evolutions. I'm also leery about those that need an evolutionary stone unless they aren't a huge pain in the ass to get — I played a ton of Silver back in the day (and as recently as last year) so I remember those being late-game exclusive.

Also no legendaries because where's the fun in that?

I was thinking Cyndaquil would be the best starter pick since I'm not sure how many fire types will be available. I'm not dead-set though.
