Many older gens Pokemon's official sizes are utter bullshit because sizes were just some data in the dex entry in older games so didn't put much thought in them.
That's why the anime retconned them, and it's why newer 3D games that actually depict Pokemon near human/each other should also retcon them

You're right, but they were never taken seriously to begin with, so there was nothing to retcon. The guy near the Lake of Rage that measures Magikarp is proof enough that not even the games have ever cared about those numbers.
The dex height/weight numbers are just considered an average, nothing more nothing less.

Ash isn't 5ft. An average 10 year old is 4'5", and Japanese are smaller then average. Let's say he's 4'3".
That makes his Charizard 6'0", close to the average height of Charizards.

But there are canonical massive pokemon (mostly legendaries) but just like in the real world its more common for them to be little, if everything was fucking massive it would be 1. A logistical nightmare and 2. Take away from the cool big dragon legends (wailord and the like as exeptions)

Anime and manga always retcon the official sizes because they don't work when trying to actully depict the Pokemon world and Pokemon interacting with humans
SwoShit, as a console 3D game that depicts Pokemon near humans and near each others (unlike abstract older games) should have done the same

Like fuck they did. SS just put an upper cap (pretty much matching the trainer's height) and automatically resized all pokemon to not surpass that limit.
Hence beach ball sized wailord.
