Honestly, XY could work by itself without affecting the original universe, but because they had to introduce it on Hoenn they ended up creating a giant shitfest and I'm affraid that'll be the case for Sinnoh, too.
I feel they should just leave it as OP pic. Pokemon canon has always been horrible because of the media, but at least it always kept for itself (videogames only affected other videogames, anime only retconned anime), but since SM and the connection between anime and games and the whole multiverse shit, and now adding LGPE and GO as well as the movies... I feel Pokemon officially ended in XY, maybe SM, but ORAS and LGPE afterwards should be buried in hell and never be talked about again.
>>43308233To be honest, it's one of the best launching games, just below BW and probably GS. It gets a lot of hate, but compared to things like RG, RS, DP and even SwSh, it's one of the most complete base games. The story itself being shit is another topic, but XY are at least complete by their own and have things like a massive Pokedex, trainer customization, kept Triples and Rotation battles, Pokeradar, introduced Pokemon interaction with Amie, made the big jump in EV training, tried to be a bit experimental with Mega Evolution and helped some old Pokemon to get new shine, was the last generation with roaming Pokemon, and still tried to have some exploration (even if it wasn't that much) and was the last "big" region with various routes, cities and a bit of non-linearity.
XY are far from being perfect and have a cucked story, but they were objectively the last games with SOUL.
