>>43310255>Saying otherwise would be tantamount to calling them a "trans-trender" and saying that you view them as a fake trans person who isn't serious enough about it to go all the way, thus invalidating their existence.i believe this is the best way to handle those gender identities
gender itself is a social construct established over millennia of cultural tradition. there's no inherent biological reason for females to wear dresses or men to have short hair, it's simply something that some cultures settled upon.
to be clear, i use "sex" to refer to biological males and females and gender to refer to the cultural concept of men and women.
attempting to create additional genders is both nonsensical and harmful. it's nonsensical because, if the general population does not recognize the existence of that gender, it doesn't exist, as gender is only a stereotype the collective consciousness. it's like calling yourself famous. you don't get to decide: it's something that's decided for you.
and it's harmful because gender has very little purpose and is mostly negative. interactions with gender are usually restrictions or punishments. you can't dress like that because of your gender. you look ugly because your appearance conflicts with the expectations your gender establishes. you got harassed because you don't act like your gender should.
ideally we would have no genders and these problems would disappear. adding additional ones is going in the opposite direction: further complicating the issue without solving the fundamental problems gender creates.
