There's also a violent powerful monkey hanging out in a jungle somewhere too
They stopped caring about making a story about their legendaries ages ago but with Gen 8 they feel especially lacking just like with gen 7 only Meltan and Melmetal have a history they're from 3000 years ago sealed in a tome at the bottom of the ocean floor that mysteriously opened and released them there's no lore at all for Zeraora and Marshadow, poor Volcanion has only has it's story in that movie nobody watched, being the guardian of Magearna a pokemon created by a Kalos king for his daughter then there's AZ Floette whose origin story is apart of Kalos main plot. only existing as it is because it was suppose to return to AZ before the battle and we were to fight it but the writers thought it would make more sense for it to return after the battle, gee if only we could have rematched AZ with that thing, yet for some mysterious reason the attack Light of Ruin which is only capable of being used by that pokemon which has never been released for 3 generations since it's existence always gets an animated update. They're fucking with us.
Meanwhile Hoopa has more lore than any of these pokemon combined it's power is even the bases of the mobile game Pokemon Battle Masters. Other pokemon missing lore are Genosect and Meloletta,
