If they just adapted the plot of the games and expanded it with some ocs, then it would've been kino. Ash companions should've been Bianca and Brock. Bianca's ditzy, but sweet personality is much more likable than Iris's down-your-throat tsundere personality(that wasn't even her real personality). Brock would've had alot of great gags with characters like Prof. Juniper, Fennel, Elesa, Skyla, N's sisters, etc. The rivals should've been Cheren and N. Trip was clearly meant to be Cheren's OC replacement, but he ended as a worse Paul clone. N would've been the highlight of the BW series, with his and Ash's rivalry and conflicting ideologies. All they had to do was mirror the game's plot, expand on their character arcs, give the main characters a better team, and add some original content and characters. Here's what I think Ash and Co.'s endgame teams should've been:
Ash: Pikachu, Samurott, Krookodile, Haxorus, Chandelure, Braviary
Bianca: Emboar(or Tepig for shouldermon), Musharna, Heldier, and Lilligant
Brock: Gigalith, Scraggy(or Scrafty), Crustle, Archeops, Timburr
Cheren: Serperior, Liepard, Unfezant, Simipour, Eelektross, Escavalier
Jessie: Meowth, Wobbuffet, Litwick, Swoobat
James: Deino, Maractus, Watchog
As for B2W2, it could be included after the climax in the Pokemon League. The arc could introduce characters like Rosa, Hugh, Colress, Roxie, and Marlon. Our existing characters like Bianca and Cheren, would've matured and even wear their B2W2 outfits. N would've been a anti-hero that helps Ash defeat Ghetsis and the last renmants of Team Plasma. Colress would be introduced as a friend to Juniper and then be revealed as a associate to Team Plasma. Ash beats him and talk-no-jutsu's him into being good. Hugh, Roxie and Rosa fight the Shadow Triad, etc.
