Now I really like SwSh. I like the competitive scene and the raid are decently fun. I also think that Isle of Armor and the Crown Tundra are gonna add a lot of necessary things that couldn’t make the base due to time constraints. Despite all of this I do not think that this is where Pokémon should be at this point in time. I honestly think that Pokémon needs to stop taking small steps and start to take big ones, and in my opinion the best way to do that is to work with Monolith Soft and create a Pokémon game in the same likeness as Xenoblade.
As of right now Monolith has been growing tremendously, and are capable of working on multiple games at the same time. They worked on BotW and XC2 at the same time. Now they are currently working on a new IP while doing XCDE, and BotW2. They have perfected the open world gameplay so that it doesn’t feel barren but doesn’t feel too cluttered. I have a couple of ideas as to how Pokémon could feel like a real modern RPG while keeping its roots.
