But I found that the SM anime is more accessible to her, with a having 3 main female protagonists and featuring more 'cute' Pokemon. I know it's stereotypical but she (without me interfering) likes alolan Vulpix, Steenee and Litten the most. Lily and Ash are her favourite characters. Also likes Team Rocket and Meowth a lot.
The SM games are also better because they are handholdy as fuck and shove healing items in your face all the time, exp. share, a map to show you the goal etc. Since she's a child and can't read yet these games are more playable ane enjoyable for her. Gen 1 would just confuse and frustrate her because without reading it's hard to beat. Also Gen 7 gives visual clues to type effectiveness, which helps her learn it better then me explaining it all the time. She also loves petting/feeding them.
All in all I guess it's better to get her to actually enjoy Pokemon and experience it at a pace appropriate for her age. Maybe she'll want to try older games once she can read
