Mawhile was never about being pretty, pure or regal, it was already a weird ass thing, with its own inspiration already there. It's not about it being different that I'm complaining, it's that conceptually it's throwing the original inspiration out the window instead of building upon it. Like, how much more sense would it have made to use something like Kirlia or Floette, which would then contrast with the snake transformation ?
Or heck, it could have been a pokémon that turns into the snake when evolving as opposed to a regional form.
All and all, it just seems like you chose Mawile as a random feminine pokémon without building onto its existing concept for your variant.
