That's literally how it is with all games these days. People have the attention spans of goldfish and need constant updates to keep them playing a game.

It doesn't matter whether a game is barebones or has all the content in the world, the average player will play it for a month tops, then move on to the next game. The only way to keep players nowadays is to drip-feed content.
