Why did Mega Evolutions feel more soulful than Z-Moves or Gigantamaxing? Is it because things just seemed simpler back then? Was it the pre-release hype? The ORAS megas confirming they would add even more megas post-XY (only to go then go and c.uck us with SM)?

Will new ones ever make an appearance? I mean I thought they'd never introduce new baby Pokemon or new Pokemon with split evolution trees but for as shit as SWSH they proved me wrong on those fronts.

But they weren't. They blatantly only existed just to sell toys of popular Pokemon. They didn't improve game balance, they didn't make the game more interesting, the designs are complete dogshit.

megas had the biggest overall effect on the battle
they took up the item slot
they changed a pokémon for the entire battle
they changed base stats
they could change typing
they could change ability

those changes also made it stupidly imbalanced and terrible which is why they made z-moves work the way they do

That's because they were never applicable to easily-accessible pokémon son. Forme changes were just that - an asthetic change in looks. Not everyone got a Deoxys IRL and those that did couldn't bring it to VGC, so it didn't bother anyone. Megas were allowed and did affect normal pokémon.

Or you could cope with playing a kid-focused entry-level JRPG and understand the gimicks are there to sell to children and as Game Freak aren't going to change their viewpoint any time soon on this, the games will continue to have gimmicks sprinkled as Game Freak see fit to interest the next generation of Pokémon payers growing up.

TPCi shit has no relevance on Game Freak and Japan ignored your little "survey" (much less the absolute shit-show Masters actually is). There's more chance of DP remakes being for adults than Megas returning in time for them.

I never once stated anything about TPCi. Let's go (made by Game Freak) was made for go fags while ironically enough it's also huge in Japan. Cynthia got a mega in a mainline game (by Game Freak), and the current games are sucking up go's cock with raids and having go Pokemon be transferable.

Mega's are legendary pokemon that can't use items.They don't shift the dynamic of the game that much other wise. At least not any more than any other pokemon might. They aren't something you have to be preparing to defend against or require a specific counter play. They don't completely mitigate offensive issues of some pokemon or allowing snow ball moves, its just 48 new pokemon that are strong but can't use items.

Mega evolution works because it does very little whilst seeming like it does a lot with the flashyness of the transformation.
