>>43349291Not true at all, plenty of movies get huge audiences but the movie sucked. See the Michael Bay Transformers movies, ET, Avatar, Minions, All of the Harry Potters, etc. You'll notice that other than ET which is horribly overrated, only children put those movies on their top 10 lists. Actual adults who know what they're talking about and can appreciate a well-made movie with good acting, camera work, and writing tend to go for things like Blade Runner, Titanic, Lord of the Rings trilogy, Die Hard, etc. (Still somewhat overrated but far better). Pokemon designs are nowhere near as nuanced as movies, and don't require quite as much attention to detail, but the same idea applies, that popularity doesn't automatically make something good, and sometimes it takes a critical eye, or at least an adult eye to sift the best from the rest.
