I can't say I personally have much love for the last three but it's nice for underappreciated starters to get love. Though which Gen 4 and Gen 7 starters would fit into this thread? Empoleon and Primarina?

Most anons give samurott shit for its awkward design. But outside of /vp/ I don't think anyone cares becausethe idea of a samurai otter is cool as fuck.
And even though emboar gets the occasional appreciation thread it still gets shit for being ugly, a slow mixed attacker, and the 3rd fire/fighting starter on a row. And that criticism isn't limited to /vp/.

Well, there's plenty of cases where people may like the pokemon but also hate it's evolution. Just because lots of fans like Bulbasaur doesn't necessarily mean that they also like Venusaur.

I honestly really enjoy playing Venusaur and Emboar. Meganium wasn't bad either for it's gen. I've honestly never used Chesnaught nor have I even played swsh. I'd try out Chesnaught but I'm definitely not going to play the new games

Meganium is fine. I get why it's unpopular but it's clean and simple. Nothing to hate.
Dislike the other three, especially chesnaught.

This is a ridiculous position to take. Charmander still placed well. Squirtle and blastoise were about neck and neck. Venusaur had a huge dropoff from bulbasaur. If people wanted to rally behind venusaur, they would have rallied around venusaur. People like bulbasaur, so they rallied around bulbasaur. Simple as.
