Playing Shield right now and this is my team. Theme I can think of is using Pokemon that are (or at least related to via evolutionary line) revealed during the pre-release hype season of SwSh.

it was actually amazing
i caught it in a Secret Temple (basically a Hidden Grotto if you don't know) so it came with Thick Club and some special moves (Thunder Punch and Iron Head)
but better than that, it had JOLLY
it actually outsped a lot of shit and consistently 2OHKOd a Mega Aggron that was like 3 or 4 levels above it

Marowak is right after you unlock Surf, around in between 3rd and 4th badge iirc

only important characters (Gym Leaders, etc) use Mega Evolution, they usually use it as their last Pokemon though not all the time

Yeah neither of those moves are in this hack kek, the creator stripped movepools back to their basics. I don't think boosting moves are even available to the player.
Might just catch another Scyther just so it can have its speed back.

there's plenty of other bullshit in this hack to get mad at tbqh, it certainly crosses from difficult to tedious/frustrating in many ways

Yeah, I trained all these pokémon (cheated to have my bro Sableye in) and those constitute my team in rotation.but now I don't have any motivation to challenge the league, beating Archie was nearly impossible. Challenge is fun but it gets boring after the tenth time you lose to a random trainer

I just made it to Drake's last Pokemon then wiped. Honestly after all this build up the League was pretty easy so far, I was going in blind just to scout what they got and I almost beat the E4, even with a couple of mistakes made. Maybe the Champ is gonna be bullshit though (if its a double battle Im gonna cry)
Archie was pretty easy for me because my team was very Water heavy anyway with a lot of Swift Swim (Swampert/Ludicolo/Tentacruel at the time), Maxie was way tougher, and the final Red battle in Victory Road was fucking bullshit

Does this game change evolution levels? Catching Joltik at the start of the game is very tempting, but I don't want to grind it from lv 2 to 36 just to evolve it.

I'm planning to conquer this game. I've been playing crystal and red alongside it for some trades/old tms/legendaries for my teams on the different cups. I had the game as a kid, but honestly just duked it out against my friends with the rentals because I never had a gameboy until the gba.
I was planning something more straightforward at first, and I have about 7 mons up to level 50, but now I want to try some spicy memes.
Here's my planned team for the Poke Cup (lv 50-55)

Starmie @miracle berry (LVL 50)

Machamp @leftovers (LVL50)

-rock slide

Snorlax @mint berry (LVL55)

For those unfamiliar, you pick 3 mons for each battle, and the combined levels can't exceed 155, so I have two level 55 pokemon and the rest 50 to mix up. Smeargle must be level 55 so that his OHKO moves will not have 0% accuracy against a higher level opponent. The first three are the smeargle meme core, lead starmie to status something so that umbreon will have an easier time setting up evasion. Mean look + sand attack will be useful to give smeargle the maximum odds of winning. Spore is for the next two pokemon, or if they're healthy enough, I can go back out to the other two and try to setup again if I don't want to risk smeargle.
The last three members are a generally strong core that handle each other's weaknesses. Starmie can sub in for any members in order to act as a fighting resist and fast attacker. Umbreon can be used with the other core as well to setup evasion, making snorlax's job easier.
