So about a year ago I started playing through HGSS again and decided to hunt for a shiny early on for the fun of going through the game in style. After getting a shiny Ratatta I wasn't satisfied and continued on to get a shiny Mareep, and this was with only 50 hours of playtime.

I then decided to progress as normal, but literally 4 encounters later found a shiny Geodude in Union Cave.

150 hours into the game and a year later (the other day), I thought I'd pass some time soft resetting for a shiny Lapras. Got it in 10 encounters. Pic related.

So my question is this. How can I harness my luck into the real world or have I used it up already?
