The scripts they go off of are also painfully Engrish and have almost no attempt at localizations whatsoever, to appease the gooks at TPC that think their shit is made of gold.

TPC is so fragile about their script that they only permitted the jelly donuts line in the Mewtwo movie remake because it's a well-loved meme in the pokemon community. Meowth had an opportunity to make a "drying pan" joke in the same way that the jelly donut line was permitted but TPC didn't want the dub team to stray too far away from the original Japanese script. No fun allowed except when the CEOs say it's okay.
