Well it is a superbly average Pokémon stat-wise. It’s common knowledge that Phione isn’t viable for competitive play nor was it ever intended to be. It’s a little nod to Manaphy laying eggs. You also revealed yourself to be a Smogon fag to point this out so late in the game.

same i like like 95% of the mons except mons with tools and clothes (and aberrations like eiscue)
phione is cute and its pretty meh, just there but eiscue is the least liked because its irreedemable shit

I would have called it movie bait but Manaphy ended up getting the film. This thing was left to be forgotten, a hidden monster to collect for the sake of collecting as some sort of pseudo Manaphy. Sure, it's not Manaphy, but it kind of looks like one and you get one for free if you deposit some Pokemon in Pokemon Ranch.

Okay to everyone needing an explanation. Phione is the mutated offspring of Manaphy. Manaphy’s based on a hermaphroditic animal irl but still mates to survive. Manaphy can only mate with Ditto in game. Ditto’s the “missing link” in the dna thus Manaphy + Ditto = Phione. Phione’s an ancient ancestor of Manaphy and only discovered when a Manaphy mated with a Ditto. Thus, Phione came to be. Phione is a thousand year ancestor to Manaphy.
