distortion/galactic story especially at the climax, infiltrating their base and chasing cyrus up a mountain made me feel like a badass kid
also hidden stuff that the game doesn't really lead you to, like the Fuego ironworks or the regi trio (still wish those were available w/o event regigigas)

x and y had some decent selection for pokemon, in fact they included most of my favorites pretty early on so i was able to form my dream team right away
