Perrserker and Runerigus are the only two Galar forms with existing evolutions, yet original names. Why does Galarian Weezing keep its original name but not these ones?

Runerigus probably could have passed as a Cofagrigus variant, but Perrserker has a completely different design from Persian. Not changing the names would have had a lot of people scratching their heads.

They look completely different. Perrserker retains Meowth's bipedalism, and Runerigus is no longer a coffin.

They're basically branched evos like Politoed and Slowking.

They're both viking-related; Perrserker is based on vikings, and Runerigus is based on the runes that tell the stories of vikings.

yeah thats what i said earlier, although i think thats just a result of being from gen7 when this whole regional variant thing started. i dont think they thought of making new names for such a small inconsistency, would be weird having totally new pokemon for these 2 that look ridiculously similar to their kanto counterparts.

I think it would be the other way around with for example normal sirfetch'd just being sirfetch'd while galarain sirfetch'd would have the galarian thing as it'a only in galar. The TCG has the galaruan evolutions with the "galarain" thing before so there is a fair chance we will get "normal" versions. This thing is so confusing all because they couldn't retcon evolite

The TCG just has "Galarian" one the card names so that they can still be affected by cards that affect Galarian forms, that's it.

An evolution of regular Farfetch'd, Linoone, or Mr. Mime would be called something else just like Perrserker and Runerigus.

I know it is. They implied there was a clear difference to Galarian farfetch'd and Galarian 'Goons and those found elsewhere and it was these differences that allowed them to evolve where the others couldn't. At best, there'll be another regional adaption maybe, taking the lines in another direction, but I wouldn't hold my breath for it and would just abandon hope for the originals getting evos at this stage.

The TCG already stated that Obstagoon is ''Galarian'' and not just Obstagoon. And it's not Yu-Gi-oh and their dumb translation or other TCG game. I doubt that TPC will not validate this choice

It's actually the opposite for Obstagoon since in-lore, the Galarian versions are the originals and the ones in other regions branched off from them.

>Shield: Zigzagoon that adapted to regions outside Galar acquired this appearance. If you've lost something, this Pokémon can likely find it.

The Galarian ones didn't gain the ability to evolve into Obstagoon, the ones outside Galar lost it because they're in a less hostile environment and thus no longer need to evolve past Linoone.

Yes but it should still not reference SAND in its name. Runergrigus hardly looks different from Coffagrigus but still got a name change. Why wasn't A sandslash renamed to snowslash?
