I started playing Pokemon really, really late and chose Silver as my first game. I didn't understand jackshit of what I was going, everything felt like a blurry fever dream, just went from town to town winning every battle with only my Feraligatr and Pidgeot, and even beat Lance without even realizing he was the champion or that it was supposed to be a special fight at all. So yeah, he's the weakest.

Turn-based combat IS an abstraction. That applies not just to Pokemon, but every turn-based game.

The Pokemon are not literally just standing there like retards letting attacks hit them.

This isn't some new revelation; everyone has known this since the franchise began.

Just stop, it's sad. He's a chump champion with no characterization and doesn't deserve the title just because some marketing boffin decided that he'd be the best. You do realize that they directly work with the anime team to make certain trainers and pokemon stand out, right? They just want more positive attention on Galar after so much negativity from the games

That was back when the Pokemon world was just our world + Pokemon. When the world of Pokemon became its own thing, all references to the real world were retconned away + Game Freak didn't communicate with them much back then so they just made shit up. That's no longer the case.
