Not for red and blue because I'm a sinnoh fag, but I remember when I was like 10 or so playing diamond, there was this one rich ass fuck who had a gameshark but no other kid new what a gameshark was. So this kid was legitimately selling rare pokemon for lunch money and shit like that.
But that's not the story, the story is that one day I challenged this kid to a battle and he was like the kingpin of the schoolyard in everyway because he was rich and viewed as "The very best trainer, like no one ever was" (The original series is what everyone watched even when I went to school idk why, it's what aired) so when I challenged him it was a HUGE DEAL.
Literally all my classmates offered to trade over their best pokemon temporarily so they could get in on the glory of the battle. It was a double battle and it was basically a team of 5 sinnoh starters and a Staraptor for some reason, all level 70-80 vs this kids team of level 100 legendaries. I fucking won that battle too, I think I got a critical hit from mine or my friends infernape's flare blitz and it one shotted his mewtwo.
I know this has very little to do with OPs question but that's easily one of my favorite memories in my entire life I remember destroying my vocal cords just screaming in triumph after that battle and all the kids in my entire grade and then some came to watch and were going insane at the fall of essentially my school's pokegod.
