I always choose either Cyndaquill or Chikorita and never Totodile because I just don't like Silver with Chikorita.

While I do like both Totodile and Cyndaquil, I always choose Chikorita because Chikorita deserves much more love than it gets

Honestly, Silver with Chikorita is hilariously fitting.
It's not like he makes the conscious choice to pick whichever starter he picks. He just runs into Elm's lab, grabs a ball, and runs out.
Having him end up with the cute and passive grass type that doesn't fit his personality at all is just karma.
