Memes aside, gen8 was actually, unironically more fun when dynamax was allowed. This has less to do with dynamax being a good mechanic (its cancerous and unhealthy) and more to do with gen8 managing to be so horrible dynamax is somehow the lesser of two evils. At least the unfun match is over in 20 turns instead of 100.

It would cause a seemingly endless series of suspects and complex bans as potentially all currently OU/UUBL/UU mons and even more could become broken wit dmax
OU tries to avoid complex bans as much as possible
A suspect lasts two weeks, so assuming suspects happen during 100% of the year you could only suspect ~25 mons per year
The pool of mons that will be juged as broken with dmax is at least 2-3 times bigger than that
If you have an infinite amount of time complex bans are the solution if you don't mind the absurd complexity
But unfortunately we have limited time so the metagame had to directly get rid of what was making these mons broken in the first place:
The Dynamax button.

Stuff like this is how we can tell you’re underaged and don’t know how to play anything competitively.

Literally anyone with an IQ higher than the amount of new Kalos Pokemon made can tell you that Hawlucha, Gyarados, Excadrill, ect. are all fine without Dynamax, but are extremely broken with Dynamax.
This is because it makes any weakness to set up sweepers trivial.
Without Dynamax, they are fine since they have all the weaknesses they had before.

The funny thing is, if Smogon did ban/restrict those set-up sweepers (after dozens of bans since Dynamax just makes sweeping too easy), you would bitch and moan about how the Meta is too bulky or about how Smogon is banning all the offensive Pokemon to protect Stall.

These are the notable most common dynamax user I can remember from the pre-ban meta
Gyrados -> slip stream + moxie

Hawlucha -> sd + slip stream + max knuckle

Excadrill -> sd + speed boost from sand

drednaw -> sd + max knuckle + speed boost
from rain

Barraskewda -> max knuckle + speed boost
from rain

Togekiss -> nasty plot + max air stream

Obviously some are more stronger than other and the line where we draw for something ban worthy is a bit arbitrary.
Dynamax also completely ignores the disadvantage of choice items which is just not fun.

nasty plot + strong dynamax move was also common , hydregon , rotoms

no but the disadvantage of choice far out weighs the advantage of choice after a kill. After most choice kills you are force to switch out since your opponent can just set in their resist/revenge killer. If they send out a resist you can just dynamax and ignore your choice with revenge killer you can dynamax and live a hit(assuming you aren't chip to a significant degree) this often leads to your opponent in a tough spot and is force to switch around until dynamax is over. Yes I also know the revenge killer can also dynamax but this leads to my second point of my dynamax also being relatively volatile since this creates a 50/50 choice for both player and if they choose wrong the game basically ends most of the time. Feel free to point anything wrong with my argument Im not infallible and I do want to hear others opinion on the matter :V

All we have to do is look back at the weather wars in gen V. Swift Swim + Drizzle got the first ban and it just left the next strongest weather/ability combination to run rampant in its place until they finally realized speed boosting in weather abilities were just too OP for permanent weather.

Now imagine that, except applied to every Pokemon in the game as more and more are banned from using dynamax. It's an absurd proposition and dynamax is better left being banned altogether. The mechanic is too powerful.

There's just not fucking way that you actually played the meta. Anything with a STAB Flying move just gets to rip through any remaining Pokemon completely uncontested, doubly so if they can boost their stats prior to attacking and/or set weather, boosts or terrain. Whoever gains momentum and hazards first wins outright. 0 possibility of playing balanced or defensive styles of play, the only thing that matters is setting up a dynamax sweeper and possibly some stupid gimmick like sash TR Reuniclus to attempt a comeback.

5th gen was best. Weather makes so many more Pokemon actually viable choices.
This was the only gen where I could unironically run Parasect and have it do work, compare to gen 6 with birdspam #1 and gen 7 making every Pokemon a surprise lure. Weather actually added something worthwhile to the game, and weatherless teams were always still the most dominant playstyle.

IIRC at the end of gen 5 was about 56% weatherless teams.
Perhaps not so much at the start of the meta when serious weather abusers were still in and everyone was keen to try out all the new toys but in the end it got there.
