>>43468885I like Sevii Islands because they show what postgames often lack. You get to explore new areas as a prize for catching Pokemon. This is half of Pokemon are about. People usually focus on the second half - battles and Battle Facilities. This is also fine but no game should omit one for the other.
On top of that, Sevii Islands are just fun to explore since they have various ideas thrown into their design. Lonely island with an ice cave which is a hometown to one of the E4 members. A valley with Braille's puzzle. A cave filled with disappointment of a failed gimmick (Altering Cave). It reminds me of a quote from Forrest Gump - ""Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get".
>>43473141Comparing Delta Episode to Sevii Islands is such a bad analogy. The former throws you around the locations you've already seen in order to talk with characters and enjoy fanfic-tier plot. The latter gives you access to new areas to explore while giving you simple plot to finish.
>>43473213>RB have aged surprisingly well>20 space limit in your bag>can't use HMs without going into team screen>lacking movepools>barebones battle screens with ugly backsprites from japanese Green/Red gamesThey have unique mechanics (like Special being one stat, criticals being dependant on speed and bugs) but they didn't age well. I can manage with all of the things I've mentioned but people call me boomer because of it.
>FRLG doesn't even have that going for it though, being set in what is honestly probably the most boring ass middle of the ground generation in terms of mechanics.>I don't see the point in going back to it when Gen IV is just so much better.Actually, I really enjoy old way of categorizing physical and special moves. I am not calling it superior but it's fun to go back to days in which Shadow Ball was viable on physical normal types. Add to this semi-competent movepools, more detailed world and you have a better experience than in RBY, IMO.
