>>43484870I remember a couple things from 2016.
A couple days before Sun/Moon was announced, this thread appeared, and they said he predicted Sun/Moon, which was announced on Feb 27. Let's remember 2015 had no games, and /vp/ was kind of starved of new stuff.
https://archive.nyafuu.org/vp/thread/25281435/#25281435I remember we were expecting a Z version to conclude Gen 6 stuff like Zygarde and that kind of stuff. Also, it was the last hype season I remember to be expected eagerly here. There was a particularly obnoxious poster that posted concept art of a grass type owl starter, which possibly was either a beta design of Rowlet or a fakemon.
Then speculation about the last stage of the starters happened with 3 scrapped designs: A proto-Decidueye; Ballio, a clown-themed manly seal, and a manticore looking fire starter.
I don't remember much about other Pokemon that were announced in the way, but, as usual, Game Freak promised that Sun/Moon was the game to end all games. "It all comes together", they said.
As for Anime Ash, in 2016 happened two important things.
>He went to the champion finals thanks to his OC donut steel Greninja (which was also offered as a gift in the Sun/Moon games, complete with OT: Ash)>Amourfags expected Ash was going to get pussy at long last.We all know the outcome: Goodra jobbed the fuck off the finals, Alain's Charizard won against Greninja ("BURASTO BAHN" became a meme for the times to come), and Ash gave a very subtle kiss to Serena.
Much butthurt happened here and outside /vp/, with many anime fans promising to travel to Japan to 9/11 the shit out the anime studios. We already knew Sun/Moon was not going to have a league and the anime was going to have a more lighthearted twist next season, so the butthurt was doubled at the perspective of Ash not having a chance to redeem himself for at least 3 years.
That's what I can remember of 2016. I haven't put much attention to what happened after September.
