Crystal Clear made me realize that gamefreak was right all along, linearity is good for pokemon, having the ability to go anywhere right from the start makes the world feel small

Nothing really, as it is literally the epitome of an average Pokemon fangame: bad story, bad custom spriting, decent QOL changes, and increased difficulty. Its polarizing because it is not a Drayano hack. People hate anything that restricts Pokemon choice and is more challenging than simply raising levels and revising movesets. Most of all /vp/oreons hate it because it was really popular for while, especially on Reddit.

The only thing they needed to do with pokemon to create linerarity without utterly forcing it was just to let you try and go to area way over leveled for you. Maybe put an NPC just before it saying how they weren't ready for the mons there and got hurt (but not force stop you). Worst case scenario is you try and your whole team faints. Then you learn the hard fucking way to come back.
This method is tried and true in dark souls, and gives the player a bigger sense of accomplishment and larger scope of the world since it will feel so foreboding. All those warnings you get at the start of the games will actually have weight to them, and the world seems less handholdy and more filled with monsters like it really is. And you'd feel so much more badass conquering these scary strong pokemon that wiped your whole team earlier.

Also, they could as well just.. well you know.. make their worlds bigger.

I recently had a friend kill themselves, Im a total sperg but the last thing I would do is make them kill themselves in a game I made. No, I hate poorly implemented 'features' that look fucking awful. If they made some of the skintones a bit darker, it wouldn't be a huge deal. Dumb as shit, but not a huge deal.
