Stop using the same abstractions they used for the 2D games. Those abstractions don't work in 3D.

In 2D, it was obvious that we were seeing was just an abstraction and we filled in the rest with our imaginations. In 3D, that's no longer possible to do because 3D graphics cause our brains to take what we're seeing literally.

Please god no. This is Nintendo, we know how bad the acting would be. BOTW and Masters bot show the kind of money they're willing to spend on acting and it's pitiful.

I'd be fine with Zelda style grunts and laughs for each character but legit line-reading would certainly be a disaster.

Alright well for starters they should implement some sort of Internet connectivity because people these days like to play games online. The GameBoy didn't have connectivity with the Internet without the phone addition only released in Japan, so utilizing hardware that has built in capabilities would be the way to go.
The second thing is to utilize hardware. I think that it'd be great that one day we could get a Pokemon game on the DS because they could utilize the bottom screen to select moves and let you move around your Pokemon in the box. Or maybe we could get a Pokemon game on the Switch so that you can dock it or bring it with you places. It would also be nice to not have a limited color palette one day for Pokemon.

Pokemon's gameplay and world design hasn't evolved in any way since the Game Boy days. We still don't get to see our Pokemon battle, we still just imagine the battles in our heads. The routes and towns are still too small. That worked in 2D because we could imagine the rest ourselves, but that isn't the case in 3D.

I'm not being a shill, I'm playing off your mental retardation of using what equates to another generic thread template. Now that you've actually been specific, I think that the best mix of having the game still show turn based moves while making it so that the type of move is shown while informing you what move it is. That way 1 battle doesn't take 10 minutes unlike in the spinoff 3D games and the depictions of fighting are better.
On a side note, you are a nigger and real chads play with animations off.

That's where we hit the interpretive wall, of course. Was Pokemon what it was on the Game Boy because that's what it is or because it had no other choice? Because we have nothing concrete to go on for must be realized in the case of the latter, particularly on the combat.

I'd really like an open world BOTW type experience, you can go to any route and catch basically everything straight out the gate (not sure how the level balance would work here. maybe more strict gym badge level caps, or just have baby pokemon of the same species in those routes for the lower leveled trainers) Gyms in any order and scale off number of badges obtained. BOTW style quest system with actual quests involved. Have multiple leagues akin to pokemon stadium (little cup etc.) Instead of having pokemon follow you like in HGSS, be able to chose a small pokemon as a shouldermon. And finally keep the turn based system, but make the idle animation much more intense( have pokemon actually trying to hit eachother, running around the arena, whiffing attacks it knows) literally no excuse for this not already being the case.
