Overall went very well and I'm proud of the team. I was hoping for Miltank and I got it, which is nice, since I wanted to use one in Gold but couldn't cuz I alerady had Furret.
Now we'll explore all the way till Olivine, get the encounters and then train for Morty! I'm confident in Vlad's Bite and until then he'll already be a Golbat or maybe a Crobat, so I'm chill for this gym.

I just did that for my Blaze Black nuzlocke. Yes those are hardcore but it can get worse (I restricted exp. share use). I would say those rules give it a reasonable challenge. If it is too hard then give yourself some leeway.

Blaze Black's a gen 5 romhack. It's an improvement/difficulty hack. To play it on original hardware would be a lot harder than just using Desmume. I don't know much about playing romhacks on original hardware though.

I have no interest really in finishing my mono dark nuzlocke. I’m sad about my first mightyena going down, and honestly it was becoming a bit too easy aside from very specific problem Pokémon. I know the grind I’m in for is beyond hellish because I lost so many team members.

So.....I want to do a nuzlocke of emerald with no items allowed in battle.

well that couldn't have gone better, turn 1 I got off reflect, faked out the braviary, and since Jewlz had a rocky helmet, recoil from brave bird was Skyla's undoing
after Pwuh ate 2 brave birds he went down, and Ayo was able to pick off what remained, Swanna was got hit by Cognos's psychic and went down, and Jewlz and Namba worked together to take down Mandibuzz and Gliscor
all and all I'm real happy with how this went, I might be able to finally put this game to rest tomorrow, we'll see (also Magmortar gets nasty plot in this game cause what the hell)

Decided to put a few different rules into place considering that I'm playing on challenge mode now. I'm using Clover's in-battle healing rules: Maximum of four usables, no revives. This is because challenge mode gives trainers a good level advantage and usually a bonus of +1 combined with Drayano's changes. Since Dray also gives you the chance at every starter, I'm limiting myself to 1 on the team at a time. Of course set mode and I'm using the leveling rules in the screencap.

I should note that I'm playing an outdated "classic" RenPlat so certain changes like Water/Fairy Luvdisc and Ice/Rock Glalie aren't a thing. I'm not sure if this makes it easier or harder.

This is the team I plan on taking Victory Road on with, it's about the best I can do. If I lose too many things I might forfeit, I don't want to take on the E4 with a Jolly Luvdisc and a Rash Thick Fat Azumarill.

I lost my Toxtricity against Hop's asshole Inteleon because I forgot it had Mud Shot and it used Max Quake. I am beyond mad, but I often lose stuff to stupid mstakes. It's like the more I play the more I forget stuff, whereas I think if I played less often I'd be more careful.

Bad RNG sucks as well, literally nothing you can do.

Mostly after the first gym is where it gets interesting. The variety is also a downside as well as an upside since you could get loads of redundant stuff. I think in one run I got like 4 or 5 Psychic types almost in a row, in that stretch between Route 6 and Route 11.

Headbutt is very cool.

Not much in the way of level updates since I mostly was just running around grabbing all the encounters I did not do. Pretty interesting spread of pokemon I managed to pick up. Funniest moment was when I ran into Kandor. I saw it and thought "Oh, a normal type, what the fuck does it even learn?" Then it hit me with the Intimidate and I suddenly lusted for him hahaha.
Really on the fence regarding the water types. They all have good typings and there is also a goldeen I can still go get (I think). Gonna be grinding for a but cause I want to get everyone up to about 20 before I go into Morty's. I am sure he has some mean look/curse bullshit ready to go as well so I need to be prepared to deal with that.

Yep! He's working on p much entirely remaking it, with a lot of features from Ren Plat [100+ of each TM, fairy typing, new moves, etc.).

Got the generator to work locally after quite an embarrassing amount of time.
This is my new Emerald nuzlocke, with the additional rule of no using items in battle! I really hoped to get wingull as I love him, but the wurmple is meh. I hope at least its dustox, I could use that.

Crobat destroyed Chuck, Miltank and Politoed fought against Pryce and Onix and Politoed fought against Jasmine.
I'm accepting some team suggestions, since I don't wanna use Crobat as I want to save it for gens with the phys/spe split, I'm just using it for Fly. Here is how I got the nuzlocke generator working locally.
I always appreciate when someone breaks things down for me like I'm a brainlet, because I am....so here goes: (I'm on windows 10 btw)
>install github desktop and make a login to link it to your github account https://desktop.github.com/
>visit https://github.com/EmmaRamirez/nuzlocke-generator
>click green button that says "clone or download" then click "open in desktop" which will clone the repository to your computer
>once that is done, open the file path in file explorer that points to the core of the repository, this will be probably something like documents\github\nuzlocke-generator
>type cmd in the address window which will open command prompt (this part is important because you want to open this file path in command prompt)
>type npm install
>wait a billion years
>type npm run serve
>wait another few moments
>copy the URI provided and paste it to your browser and there you go!

The original Wedlocke rules by Marilland actually limits the use of the box. Your initial catches are what's paired and remain on your team until death. When they die, you can make new pairs from what'ever's in your box iirc.

It's the main reason I've never really liked Wedlockes desu.

Hey, like another anon already told you these rules are a bit different from the original wedlocke rules. For example the original said you weren't allowed to box pokemon unless you absolutely had to use an HM or something, and also the original forbade genderless pokemon altogether.
It's just something I modified for personal use, but if you think they're alright then cool.

I think, with how fucking wild and varied the grass patches are with this romhack (and gen 7 in general), I'm gonna roll randomly to see which grass I encounter in. Deciding is too hard, but allowing one catch for each of them feels like cheating since I'd get like a dozen total between Hau'oli City and Routes 1 and 2.

it was another bullshit triple battle where she had a super fast mon with coverage for the good stuff on my team, I have nothing in the box, and there's no new encounters so I just give up

Just beat Leon in my Sword run. My filler Gyarados killed most of his team, but Seismitoad of all things got me as I had banned healing items. Cramorant got fucking crit against Charizard on the last turn of his gigantamax. Luckily, I had given my Perrserker an Occa Berry and he tanked a Fire Blast after the gigantamax had ended and he won using Metal Burst.

Lance defeated! Airforce came in clutch against Koga's Sludge Bombing and Minimizing Muk, Karen's Umbreon spamming Sand Attack and Lance's Aerodactyl. Poli took 2 Outrages from Dragonite and Isabel took care of the other two. Hydrangea's Reflect and Light Screen also helped a lot against Bruno and Lance. Overall, I really like this team. Probably gonna replace Sudowoodo though.

Update on my no items in battle Emerald comfy nuzlocke.
I restarted yesterday as I posted because I was triggered by wingull dying on route 102. So here is my updated team.
Galveston has easily handled May and various wildlife up to this point, but there have been some incredibly tense moments due to my lack of caution going into battles. On route 104 I accidentally triggered the lv7 zigzagoon fight with half my team at pretty low hp, and I had to resort to hitting three supersonics in a row with Llafranc and spamming growl, then when I got down to 4 hp (!!) I swapped to Galveston and spammed mud-slap until he couldn't hit me anymore. By that point he had somehow landed 2 tail whips and I was at 9 hp so didn't feel like chancing anything. I sent out the pupper, Brussels who proved herself in her first battle, taking an opponent 4 levels higher than her down from half health without taking a hit!
This shit is gonna get interesting. I'm going to be farming berries like a madman to absorb status and heal mid-battle. I missed an encounter with marill on route 104, which could've been useful, but oh well.

Beat Roxanne! With so many water types and Shroomish being the real MVP, it was so easy. The shroom literally solo'd nosepass and ended up at full hp.
The team is growing! We added a noisy fellow and a little bird, but no one can learn cut so we have to catch a friendly HM slave to help us train for the next big May fight.

I can pick from any of the starters from gens 1-7, and if you guys don't mind picking for me I'd think that'd be fun, so first reply gets to choose my starter
for those that don't know anything about the game there's not so many areas to get actual grass encounters, but there are a lot of special overworld mons you can only get one of, and the shiny rate is around 1/100, so I'm adjusting rules to allow me to catch all special encounters, and shiny clause only to 1 per named area
this might seem like this is making it too unfair in my advantage, but thet odds are already like 9:1 in the game's advantage, I only have access to shitmons for the first however many gyms, there's terrains that boost the opponents team, there's mandatory battles with enemies above the enforced level cap, etc.

Ngl my run looks vanilla af right now in terms of encounters, but it's going pretty well. Got super lucky chancing upon a Zorua, as that's a flawless Ultra Necro counter later (Banded Punishment legit oneshots it lmao) so keeping him alive is my top priority. Probably boxing him soon to keep him safe.

Rest of my team is chill. Aerilate Ledyba is fun. Dope nature pull for Clank, hope he survives long enough for me to get an ability capsule for him.

Boutta fight Ilima or whatever so hopefully that goes well.

I forgot how batshit insane this game was, will probably update more frequently with how much stuff changes, and yes there are 17 badges as of now
the game starts with the train we were riding to the city getting bombed to show just how gritty and sick the creator of this game is, also we're introduced to the titular city, Reborn (where we spend most of the game), and it's just a dilapidated shithole
we got introduced to the creator's embarrassing self insert, and our first gym leader, Julia, who uses electric types
we went to the city hall, got introduced to Victoria, our rival, picked up Chip, went back downstairs and beat the shit out of a twink that was flirting with us (our other rival), then proceeded to beat up Victoria as well (we also saw a cutscene of a Torkoal being used to torture the suspected terrorist cause what the fuck)
we then left and beat up local thugs and hookers to let them know that this is our turf now
we beat two separate old men and gained access to their aquarium and garden respectively, and then beat up some thugs so we could save a Zigzagoon
that's about where we're at right now, I'm really enjoying it so far, and I am playing on set because of how many encounters I'm letting myself get, this'll probably bite me in the ass but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it

Small step forward but major changes to the team at the moment. Ao i beat Morty, he was actually pretty tame with Kandor/Herid Fel taking point. Normal types who knew ghost/psychic moves meant that he was not too much trouble. However, I realized that Chuck could be a problem potentially. So on my way to Cianwood I ran into a Mantine, which I guess I never knew was a flying type too! Haven't leveled it up, but it already knows Wing Attack which is nice. In lew of this, I threw Demandred the Umbreon into the box for this one since I can't imagine him doing any good in a fighting Gym.
Now you will notice that I did not update the box with Demandred in it. That is cause he will probably come back since I am sure that someone is going to die here. Dynamic Punch is insane and could take anyone out I'm sure. Of course, the goal is for everyone to live. Anyway here is the game plan:

Gonna open with Kandor for an intimidate and then switch to either Herid Fel or Baslen. Elayne is not coming out for shit until his Poliwrath does. I would not be surprised if it had an icebeam or some shit to counter flying so Elayne is probably my only counter to it. IF everyone gets out of this alive, I'll need to figure out who is going on the bench, but that would be a pretty good problem to have. Will update later after the fight. Fuck I wish Herid Fel knew a better flying move.

That was a rough one. To deal with Chuck's Primape, I did rotations with Kandor to minimize his attack which worked magnificently. I also got a sand-attack in on it. Here is the problem though. I was able to do that cause it was spamming Double-Team. So I can't hit it, and when he hits men even with a focus punch it was doing shit like 10 damage. So i was just button mashing and trying to hurt this thing while it just did love taps to me. I actually began to rotate my mons cause I thought it was going to have to go into PP loss and it just struggling. Eventually it goes down (couple Chuck hyper potions later since I guess he wasn't bored).
So his Poliwrath and Elayne face off. Now I am thinking I could just T-Punch this thing to death but I get nervous and paralyze it instead. HAcks halt it and now I throw a punch. Did MAYBE 1/3rd of his health. So i figure, this isn't going to work. Time ot bring in the flyers. Herdin Fel is throwing confusions to try and get some parfusion going on. It gets through with a crit body slam and Herdin is dead. Baslen comes in and starts Headbutting for flinches but it is still so little and the damn Sitrus berry kicks in. Still chopping away but another Bodyslam takes Baslen down. But he is in the yellow, I bring back Elayne and a high roll T-Punch gets me the win. But my reward? Focus Punch, not Dynamic Punch! Screw that!

Anyway, Demandred is now back and I threw the Shuckle on the team too cause I want to see if I can figure out something to do with it. Toxic stall is not much of an option in this gen until I'm well into Kanto. If nothing else it can take hits I suppose.

In other news, I got that Eevee in the box but I have Elayne for electric already and I'm not getting the Thunderstone phone call so it might just be stuck there. Pryce is probably my next target and I'll do Olivine city afterwards. Platinum Champs have also been added. Gonna have to make a new template for additional champs after Heart Gold.

Oh well. Caught a Chikorita in my token ambush encounter. He becomes a fairy type too, eventually, so that'll be fun. And he's also adorable.

Oh boy.
Faced the League. Sidney, Phoebe and Glacia were a breeze, Drake was pretty easy too but his Kingdra managed to kill Giuggiola the Tentacruel.

Wallace, then. Felpato was taken down to the red by Wailord, but the whale missed Blizzard and my doggy was able to finish him. Then Tentacruel, who killed Helios and Mavis (he didn't miss Hydro Pump like I was hoping and I didn't remember he had Ice Beam, also Mavis missed a Fly). Sutherland slowly took him down but he was poisoned in the process, resorting to the Rest+Chesto Berry combo. Chiquita then killed Ludicolo easily, but here comes the worst part.
Milotic, oh Milotic. He was so stubborn, he didn't wanted to die. I used so many Body Slam and also Wallace resorted to 2 Full Restores. Luckily for us, he was only spamming Surf...until he used Toxic. That was really risky, with a paralyzed Milotic below half health and a poisoned Sutherland already badly damaged...and I risked.
Sutherland used Body Slam and landed a critical hit! Milotic was finally down!
But so was Sutherland, killed by the potion.
Whiscash was not a problem for Chiquita.
Then his last Pokemon: the Gyarados.
I didn't switch for Felpato (I'm playing with set) and I tried a nearly useless Magical Leaf, as he was spamming Surf.
I decided to try for a Solar Beam, but on the second turn he landed a surprise Hyper Beam, and Chiquita was also gone.
Our last resort was Felpato.
And here's the plot twist: right before the fight I thaught him Shock Wave, in case he needed it, and as it turns out it did! Two Shock Waves as Gyarados was recharging and we did it!
We're Champions of Hoenn, with Felpato as the only survivor and true MVP of the run!

That was a really tense fight, a few hours have passed my tummy is still hurting a lot.
Next stop: Leaf Green!

I forgot to mention this earlier but I bought a Magikarp for 500 at the great hall, and some guy stole it from me, so I track him down, pay him another 500, turns out him and the Magikarp salesman are working together, so I beat them right quick, turns out the Magikarp got stolen from them too, sick
I beat up our third, and newest rival, Fern, who's got the wordbank of an early 2000's troll, just a real loser
we then raided the water facility where the evil team of the game, team meteor was chilling, and every battle was a double battle with Fern, and I ended up losing the Trubbish which would've helped alot in the gym
the ingame level cap for the first gym is 20, luckily Dustox learns poison powder and venoshock by then, so I should be able to handle it fine

I also learned that running around raises friendship, cause Geisha and Charlie both evolved way before I expected them too, I don't think I get a shiny stone until after the 7th gym, so Geisha might get benched soon, don't want him dying
the gym went real easily compared to the stuff leading up to it, Meech, the shiny Trubbish I caught, set up two layers of toxic spikes just to be careful, Geisha came in, set up some growths, and went to town
I'm gonna call it a night here, even if it was only one gym today, it still took a while, and I'm going to get some cool encounters in the next areas so I'm enjoying this so far, even if the story is wattpad and fanfiction.net's bastard child
tomorrow we'll have a lot of stuff in store, including what is practically a mega tangrowth, and a gym battle with even more illegally leveled mons

This is my team in Volt White 2 after defeating Roxie. Zero deaths so far which isn't surprising becuase I grinded Audinos to get a pignite I could stomp through the first gym with. Got lucky with beldum being the shaking grass encounter in the complex and dratini being the rippling water encounter on Route 19. Audino grinding is kinda broken :/

That's now officially two gyms down, a lot of stuff got done since last post, and as you can see I've gotten alot more encounters, I might adjust the rules on encounters per area because there's about 3 per area, not including shinies, so I'll see how difficult it gets, because when I played last time, I played on switch, and I remember having to restart gym battles about 10 times before I beat them starting at the third gym.
Each main area so far has been a ward, which is about the size of larger cities in normal games, and all wards are interconnected, but are locked off depending on progress.
Notable happenings was us busting some Team Meteor grunts pretending to be the day care people, there was a Meteor Admin with multiple personality disorder named Zel, and he had what the game calls a Pulse Mon, which is a machine that forces further evolution, so we got to fight a Pulse Tangrowth, but thanks to Charlie and Meech it was a cakewalk.
After this we rescued the Day Care couple, reunited a kid with his mom, and beat Fern a second time (his Dartrix is scary) because he was being a bitch and wouldn't let us battle his sister, the leader, so he sent his lackeys after us.
Having become Fern's new dad, we challenged his sister, Florinia, and her grass gym, for those that don't know there's terrains in this game, and each one of them have a bunch of things going on with them to make gym battles unique, her's was desert themed, which buffed sand tomb and pin missile.
I sent out Meech first to set up toxic spikes, and he died to her Maractus from sand tomb, Charlie then came in and cleaned up, like the last gym she had an illegally leveled mon, this time a level 24 Cradilly, but toxic did it in.
I might have to start a pastebin or something to log everything notable that happens, cause even this post left a lot out.

Rest of the squad is chillin. Topsy Turvy Inkay is an absolute pog for totems, providing he doesn't get oneshot. Lovin the squad overall, and have some lit backup mons.

7 Badges complete and most of the Rocket fights too. The real tragedy was losing my Ariados against Pryce's Piloswine. However, Gareth has stepped in nicely and having a surf user in the main roster is much more convenient when traveling. But let's talk about Shuckie.

So obviously Shuckie has a crazy high defense. It has made it perfect for swapping in to tank hits. However, its encore move was also great for things locking things into non-lethal attacks which let me switch in someone else and get a couple free hits in for knock outs. As nice as that was, i wanted Shuckie to be able to stand on his own 4...tentacles or whatever the fuck he sticks out of his rock., Toxic is the obvious path, but it doesn't arrive till you are well into Kanto. So I grabbed Sludge Bomb for some damage, but also the 30% poison chance. Used the Rock Tomb for some coverage/STAB. It learned Rest naturally for resetting the health counter if the enemy gets anywhere close to a KO. Finally, I gave it Sleep Talk for 3 reasons.
A. It allows it to keep chopping away at health while asleep since Shuckie battles are slowed down enough already without me sleeping for 2 turns at a time and doing nothing through it.
B. Sludge Bomb/Rock Tomb are both low PP moves and it takes a long time to kill an enemy with the Shuckster if Poison isn't already active.
C. Sleep Talk lets me troll AI who put it to sleep but continuing to attack. happens more than you would think hahaha.
Its an odd moveset but Shuckle is an odd pokemon. Let's see how far I can take it..

Once I'm done with the Rocket Executive i'm going to probably spread some more TM love around for coverage. For fuck sake, Elayne is rolling with 4 electric moves right now.

Just finished fighting totem Marowak in ultra sun rip Carbink and Oricoro, Cutiefly and Persian died on the way there, I seem to keep losing team members every major battle I need to start playing it safer or something these totem battles are team killers for sure

Well I finally got around to restarting for another try at emerald no items in battle. This shit is tougher than I remember.
I got some cool catches so I think I'll be okay. My plan for Brawly is to just take him down with wingull, but hopefully I don't have to sack him to win. I am going to train torchic and lombre up to 19 also in order to have options if wingull goes down.
My plan for Wattson is to train zigzagoon up until he learns mud sport which will support my fire and grass type and hopefully take him down.
This will be my last update until monday as I'll be away from my PC that runs the generator. Good luck to you anons in your runs, I'll need it in mine.

Hala was pretty easy, Francis kicked some ass with Aerilate Dizzy Punch.

The Sina fight was a bit rough though. Glaceon is fucking scary this early on, esp with Water Pulse buffed to 80bp.. Croconaw handled it for the most part since AI dumb and spammed Quick Attack (like a 15 hit KO) instead of Icy Wind (which was a 3hko, even resisted lmao) but had to swap out because Baby-Doll Eyes is lame, which led to Squilliam's death.

Working on grinding up Flabebe now. Florges got some nice buffs (Earth Power, Leech Seed, and MISTY SURGE) so I'm hoping she survives awhile. Plus, special bulk is lit. I'm hoping Ledian will carry me through the next totem, kinda worried though since the flynium-z wont work.. I'll have to check if normal z-moves turn flying type with Aerilate, but that's an idea perhaps.

As far as vanilla goes, I like USUM. It's the most challenging of the bunch. Gen 6 in general is too easy for my taste, but totems prove an interesting challenge.

There's a couple decent romhacks too. Eternal X / Wilting Y and Photonic Sun / Prismatic Moon are similar to dray hacks in terms of changes, though not made by him.

Dray has an ORAS hack (Rising Ruby / Sinking Sapphire) as well.

I've tried Supernova Sun / Penumbra Moon but after failing to the Ilima fight on 3 separate attempts I passed on it lmao.

There's also Neo XY but never tried those.

It really sucks how often I'm pushed into situations during this locke where I have to risk losing a partner because of something that I have a counter for in my team, but I'm not allowed to switch to.
And then even simply leveling is made tougher, because I mostly have to let each pokemon earn their own levels, and the best spot to do that might be a patch of grass three towns ago.

The idea of the wedlocke sounds good on paper. Couldn't the issue be fixed just by being a little more flexible with the way you arrange the couples? (say, you wait till X gym to start pairing them, can't have a couple of the same type, etc.)

The short of it for those that won't read, bug gym was easy, Laine is going into the box so I can have sucker punch for the ghost gym.
Also I feel like I've gotten way too many encounters at this point, I'll have to see how the next couple gyms go cause the difficulty has some massive spikes, but I remember struggling even at this point, at so far it's gone pretty fine, so I might have to impose an encounter cap.

games gen 6 and up always felt slow to me so I've only nuzlocked one, but Howls's recommendations pretty spot on, USUM is generally the most popular one from what I've seen.

Also I updated the template a bit for more detailed autism, it might take a while for me to start my run so I'll just upload the template now in case anyone likes it.

If you pick the dark tone from the background as your secondary color on paint by using the color picker tool and right clicking instead of left clicking, your eraser and whatever images you import into paint that have a transparent background (for example the pokemon bank sprites) will adopt to the background color.
In the image square those little arrows could be used to indicate typing, while the tiny square can be used for held items if you care about those. If you don't, they're obviously easy to remove.

Team is certainly starting to come together. Rand is fully evolved. Gonna try the Sunny Day/Solar Beam meme and see if it is any good. Gareth is looking very solid but I am not so sure his Blizzard has enough punch. Elayne is going to to keep the 3 electric moves for now. It learns some other moves naturally later. Shuckie gonna Shuck. Only thing I am waiting to do before fighting Clair is getting Demandred up to learning Faint Attack and Kandor to learning Zen Headbutt. Getting hit for single digit damage is almost becoming par for the course. Side note: I am starting to think I will never be able to have a Jolteon in Soul Silver cause the supposed ThunderStone whore still isn't calling me.

I love the charm of gen2/3 but if there's anything I don't miss it's the movesets. Getting Fly as a reward for beating the Fighting gym leader adds salt to the wound. Pic related is team
