I’m actually gonna play Emerald too, it’s just that it’d be redundant to mention it alongside Sapphire since the pokémon are exactly the same in those games

You know what? It might be. I got it a few years ago off eBay and I remember suddenly having the game freeze and my save file suddenly deleted somewhere around the 1st gym.

Fucking hell, I think you're right. I looked at the front again and compared it with my leafgreen cartridge... the "Official" nintendo seal is off-center, and all the fonts look fake, it's lighter in weight than my Leafgreen cartridge... and then there's the thing about it not working properly
I've had a fake cartridge in my drawer all these years and I had no idea, kek

Yeah that is totally fake my G.
I went surfing on Ebay about last week, ordering three sapphire games, two of which turned up fake.
I became obsessed with finding out the intricacies with real and fake carts after the first buy, and for the second cart I bought the guy used an image of a real cartridge.
Those suckers won't let you transfer your mons to gen 4.

The back of the cart should have four small rectangles organized like a window in the top left, and there should be three evenly spaced out dots on the far right.

Another thing, real carts are more opaque and for whatever reason the illegitimate copies tend to have a harder time replicating the holographic nature of the sticker on the front. Real carts have thicker embossment for "Gameboy Advance".

ESRB logo, Nintendo logo and even the font for The Pokemon Company is wonky.

I think emerald is definitely the hardest to read as far as these differences go.

its fine dawg, i ended up buying a bootleg SS a few years ago so I could trade with my HG version, did realize it was fake until a few months ago. luckily there are ways around the HGSS anti-piracy measures, dunno if RSE has similar workarounds.

Yeah I kinda had the same issue. Unfortunately I had my first ORAS cartridge robbed so I’m gonna have to do the beginning again. The beginning of all these games are usually boring though.

It does improve a lot of Pokemon since a lot of stuff isn't restricted to base 60BP STAB anymore, like Dark types.

imo the physical/special split was the best thing to ever happen to pokemon. so many more pokemon become more viable and strategy deepens. it's not perfect but the positives significantly outweigh the negatives

Most pokemon are better since the physical/special split but a few suffer. Gardevoir is amazing as a fairy in gen 6 while also being very versatile in gen 3. Azumaril is similarly very good as a physical water/fairy in gen 6. I think they tried to help Tropius with new abilities and moves but sadly it still isn't good in gen 6. Mega Altaria is also a really good fairy type but I prefer a dragon-dance set in gen 3. Wow, I just realized that my favourite gen 3 team is mostly fairy now. I think absol got better as well, and has mega. Mega Manectric is also decent.

The most improved Pokemon is Mawile. Seriously Mawile goes from being early game mon with horrible stats, to being an annihilator with a mega stone. Fairy/Steel is probably the best type in the game and Mega Mawile gets access to Intimidate + Huge Power, which boosts its attack stat to base 210.
